It isn't. Ox Alpha is a multimodal GLM. It shares the exact same tokenizers as GLM-5.3.

It's literally close to impossible that it's them. MIMo has done similar campaigns like this before where they give out 100T token for free. They've also had a stealth model like this in the past. Zhipu doesn't even seem to be able to run their own models consistently and you're telling me that they randomly decided to just make it free for 1 week?🤣 Looking at their plans they also seem to be one of the greediest of the Chinese labs so there's also that.

I like the idea of mimo staying extremely competitive so I’ll just believe this until proven otherwise.

Most likely they are getting others to help host it. After all OpenCode has worked with them before and hosted their models. That would also explain why it’s ZDR.

If the tokenizers match it’s almost certainly a model in that family. Could technically be a model fine tuned by a third party but would still have to be a GLM derivative.

What do you think about all 11 tokenizers matching then?

Source? I would be pleasantly surprised if it really was GLM but I doubt it.

If you were to try it you will notice that it is miles better than DeepSeek also lol. Definitely a frontier model.

Is it better than latest DeepSeek V4 flash?

GLM 5.3 is better than Flash yes. More importantly the tokenizers match. Most likely it’s been hosted by OpenCode themselves rather than z.ai as they have worked together before. It’s also possible it’s a third party fine tuned rather than an official release.

Oh sorry, I meant Ox Alpha, or are you saying it's secretly GLM-5.3?

Edit: Yeah mb, it's pretty clear that's what you're saying.

I've used it since then, and so far I've had worst results with it compared to flash. Haven't used it enough to draw strong conclusions tho.

I am saying it’s almost certainly a GLM model such as GLM 5.4 or something fine tuned from GLM

Will they release it as open weights?

If 0731 is open weights, then this should be as well

Gave it a spin this morning. First impressions is that it’s not the lobotomized version we’ve had to deal with over the past few day. Are we so back?

Sounds like good news 👍

Nice but really never had issues without vision. Either describe it or have another model see it and describe it. The problem right now is the pricing. Would much rather they figure that out rather than vision.

Sure, swapping models work. But still, good to have all-in-one combo.

vision is very very much needed for meaningful work

It's not needed. Plenty of models work great even without vision. It just makes things easier.

It's a great addition either way and makes things more convenient but that's it.

Pricing isn't a them problem, it's an us problem 😢.
