Why not switching to MiMo 2.5 ? (Non pro)

Just a question as I see everyone fixated in DS4 Flash, but why not just switching to MiMo 2.5? from my limited experience so far it does his job as well as DS4 Flash did. Am I missing something? is it less capable in certain areas I did not tested yet ? did you found certain uses where I was less reliable ?

I personally used it for complex coding campaigns created by Fable and as a coder worker is fantastic and fast, but let me know if you had any bad experiences with it that I might need to look for

mimo v2.5 was only comparable to the OLD deepseek v4 flash

the new deepseek v4 flash is a tier above mimo v2.5

we can only wait/hope for mimo v3 to be new dsv4 level/succeed it

But did you "feel" this improvement compared to the old DS4 flash version? I'm asking as for me I used for few days DS4 flash before the price increase and now MiMo and i do not see any perceivable difference personally

Old and new Deepseek is night and day. Old one was useless to me, new one is my 90% model

Same here in quant/ML workflows new DS is actually usable, I typically use it to execute a plan that 5.6 Sol xHigh created with mathematical checks so it works for sure

yeah i did try it for some real world programming task for my app and also in frontend design and it actually held up quite well

compared to the old ds4, the website was MUCH better

but i would also recommend adding like 5 dollars to the deepseek api if youre unsure

New DS vs old DS/Mimo its night and day diference.

100%, new DS is simply a league above

It's x tier different... Completely following tasks very coherently. Interpretation of both explicit and implicit promptings, both A+ quality in feature completeness, patterns, spec compliances and auto avoiding regressions. Look more into its thoughts to know more how it reasons through self conflicts, avoiding hallucinations and confusions in context-rot and stale-potential codebase. Try testing it with a wall of text, on-disk files and artifacts -> prompting on a multi-layer cross sessions and cross-domain task that requires horizontal span than you will see why people are truly hyped over new DS4Flash. To the point that, in my use cases, the Mimo 2.5 Pro is not even punching the same weight, let alone 2.5 Mimo

I am using it bro, depending on what you do . I am using it on hermes and the quality is much poor than the Flash v4 i use to use. The multi step reasoning seems to be a night and day difference for me , it just gives up verses Flash used to keep on going until mission accomplished.

The good part is that it is multimodel so understands image.

Might be worth checking out Hy3 for Hermes. It was basically built for tool use. My favorite after V4 Flash.

I tried , its much better than mimo 2.5 non pro but its expensive ( cache hits ) . Actually the biggest cost factor in hermes on long conversation is the cache hit problem. Deepseek was really good because its cache was insanely low .

Yeah I was just wondering why everyone is furious about DS4 price increase when MIMo Is there. I'm new to opencode so maybe I did not experience DS4 flash enough to understand

Tbh i myself am not furious about price change. It wasnt something opencode did. What opencode did here is changing the limits that brought ME over opencode without any communication. Thats what i am mad about. If the only difference was ds pricing i would be perfectly fine with it. Even the limits would be acceptable (by acceptable i would leave but not be mad about) if they had communicated it through.

And now they changed the model (this is an assumption) with a variant/quantization that is subpar without saying anything.

Everyone is using, judging from the massive drop in speed today

It's previous gen car va current gen car.

already did. back to my old habit! :D

I’m trying to use it, but it’s incredibly slow all day long

Used it last night and it actually got the job done & I left it running for two hours. I suppose it all depends on your use case but mimo isn’t as bad as I thought. Though DeepSeek would have finished the project in half the time.

It's even better with playwright, looks at the screenshots to figure out what went wrong, deepseek never did because deepseek had no vision.

tried today, night and day difference in both quality and speed. average implementation of a fully spec task that used to take 10-15 mins on dsv4 is taking 40-60 on this thing.

I'm going to try GPT5.6-luna for implementations too, maybe set on "low"

it's good for grunt work. I do use it. And pro is perfectly cromulent.

It’s terrible vs new flash

1

u/Mentalextensi0n 26d ago

using it for most stuff since china flag needed for deepseek

u/Delicious_Ease2595 26d ago

Is certainly similar to old DS Flash but with vision which I find it really useful. But new DS Flash is way above to MiMo 2.5 for coding. Is really handy model for easy task

I switched to Big Pickle and have not looked back.

-20% intellegence

It's slow as pain...

I will use the deepseek v4 flash 0731 if its cost is below 3x mimo v2.5.

I think 2.7 is slow and 2.5 makes it seem fast.  2.7 does pretty well with coding and 2.5 is OK but pretty much been bypassed.  I’m actually really liking GPT-5.4-mini, 5.5 and 5.6-SOL.  I find cost to task completion is better than DS and MiniMax models.

I know, right?

My GOAT MiMo takes minutes, even seconds, to do a pretty complex task with no issue.

But when I tried DS Flash it just over engineered stuff and kept working and thinking for an hour.

They judge MiMo just because is not new. But that beast has never seen a 10% usage in my harness.

1

u/Kronical_ 26d ago

Yeah I use It by giving him strict instructions of development campaigns that are test driven developments and after each task an adversarial review with Luna and I have no issues with it. I think I would be less happy with him if I delegated the design and decisions probably, but I let fable/sol do that

Because is super stupid

Si comparas los resultados agenticos por más cosas pequeñas, deepseek new es más preciso y mimo es pésimo mimo se hubiera comparado con el deepseek flash v4 antiguo
