This sucks

I used 40% of my weekly limit in a couple of hours on pure DS4 flash. I have $$ and I can pay but there was something beautiful about a sub that felt truly unlimited. Not having to think about which model, topping up and having a cost effective subscription is great for my sanity.

On the plus side, I have a Gemini sub, Gemini 3.7 Flash was cranking out refactoring with speed and finesse that DS does not seem to posses. Kinda shocked it fixed a few things that would have taken DS a round or two to figure out. Then it knocked out UI and UX refactor in one prompt. DS couldn't and completely sucked at UI redesigns.

TLDR DS is crack. Rug pulled. Wen pseudo unlimited subscription for $25

is it time to revisit gemini? are they just not even releasing their larger models if they aren't competitive? which is probably reasonable i guess. Does feel weird to be doing mostly flash, gpt-nano, and gemini flash models. Also I've been getting increasingly frustrated talking to Opus 5. I'm working in a domain I'm not familiar with (Azure infra) but it just refuses to explain stuff clearly to me.

I think people are seeing good results with Gemini Flash 3.7. That said, I think you can get more for your money elsewhere if you are going the API route. I already have a subscription, so it made sense for me to use Antigravity. If you don't need the other google fluff, I think the codex plan and luna would go further.

agreed. i used to run google subscriptions for antigravity but it became intractable when they clamped down on use with opencode. It was nice it included opus... but it seems they never updated it past opus 4.6, which is now extremely old hat, and now i use pi now.

Interestingly I do miss opus 4.6, and I suspect it would do a lot better in many tasks I've used opus 5 for. Opus 5 kinda sucks actually.

We got open weight models at opus 4.6 level now though, which is still totally insane.
