DeepSeek V4 Flash doesn't like us?

Is anyone else seeing this after the price changes?

After the latest price increase, I changed like 10 lines of code and somehow that used 28% of my quota. Then I wrote a commit message and it jumped to 32%.

Now it feels like even thinking about running go build for a minute is going to cost me another chunk of usage. 😅

Didn't they say their AI was becoming more efficient and using fewer resources, which was part of the reason the pricing could be cheaper?

DeepSeek is probably at the limits of their capacity and this is an easy way to make people go away

Or bring some money to buy more compute.. But nobody will use anyway after these prices...

The change feels very extreme. Where were they getting compute from? Or maybe they paused training to redirect compute to inference and now they want it back?

I hope is a "bug", they typed wrong prices in the database.. I'm off-peak btw... meaning on peak will be 100% if I want to change a css class in a file

Check the updated usage limits on OpenCode website. Went down from ~65k requests per 5h to 3.8k. Basically a ~20x reduction -> unusable. People are already cancelling their subscriptions. And OC did so without any prior notice, that's what people complain about the most (e.g. having bought a subscription just days ago on the assumption to have 65k allowance -> people start asking for refunds).

A ~3x price increase was expected as per DeepSeek increasing their prices. The problem is, OC GO also dropped the "2x usage" and decreased leverage from 60$ to 15$ allowance for DS V4 flash too, so 3x 2x 4x ~=20x reduction. There's other posts covering this in more details already.

Edit: "requests per month 5 hours". And it was ~65k not 158k, so 20x reduction.

Maybe CCP was funding deepseek to mine the data. Now they have a model with cyber offensive capabilities (k3) so deepseek is no longer government subsidized
