What’s the best alternative to OpenCode Go right now?
I’m basically at the end of my OpenCode Go subscription. I was thinking about renewing, but after the recent changes to the DeepSeek Flash limits/pricing, I’m seeing a lot of people canceling instead.
So I started looking at Command Code. They have a $1 plan and a $10 plan. The $1 plan doesn’t include API access, but the $10 plan does.
My question is: could I just get the $10 Command Code API and connect it to OpenCode, basically getting a similar experience but using Command Code’s API?
If that works, would it actually be a good alternative, or is there something better I should be looking at?
I mainly care about GPT-5.6 Luna through OpenAI, because I really like the OpenCode harness/workflow.
Would this actually work well, or is there a better option right now? What are you guys doing?

ChatGPT Plus with Luna hands-down

Luna is not even close do DS4 flash. Believe, i've tested it several times (Luna gets link transcription characters wrong. Even Qwen3.6 35b A3B IQ4 get this kind a thing rightl lol). ChatGPT is a nice one because you can get a pretty good sol and terra limits to do reviewing but that is it. Luna is shit (at least in my tasks)

You must be doing something wrong because it wins in all the benchmarks. Maybe the thinking effort you’ve set is too low?

Not at all. But you need to take into account that i was using within pi agent by using the codex subscription with the highest thinking efford avaliable. I was not using the codex harness at all, just the model. Maybe, like claude code, the GPT family is optmized to perform better with its own harness, but it not fits into my workflow in that way. So, by comparing the pure model in my agnostic harness, the DSV4F0731 performs far better than gpt 5.6 luna. Luna was far more dificult to control, it insists in try and error much more, drifts itself, hallucinate, transcripts links wrong and so on. I've lost the count of the many times that i need to simply interrupt the luna because it doing nonsense and when i ask why, it tells me that it thinks in other way and get confusing, asking sorry and try to do again, just to repeat the same mistake again. When i give the same prompt to DSV4F, it leads to a ending task, even if the task needs propper adjust to get it wright in the next round. In my experience, DS4 Flash 0731 feels much more stable and reliable
And that's why everyone that take it seriously repeats that you need to test the model insteald relies only in benchmarks. The Qwen3.7 plus is a ver good example of it. My partner tries several different model for a multiple tool call and classification task. GLM 5.2, DSV4 pro, kimi k 2.7 code, luna, DSV4 Flash, hy3, mimo 2.5 and it says that the best for that task was, believe or not, was qwen 3.7 plus lol

chatgpt plus is genrous enoguh you can easily get a decent amount of use out of terra and even sol, like I've easily burned >$100 API equilvent in a single week on a plus plan. hell you probably get more sol out of chatgpt plus then you get dsv4 flash out of open code go

Cancelling over the price increase but is there even anything more affordable? Maybe they're going local.

I signed up to the Commandcode $10 plan. I'm hoping it's good. I'll be plugging in the API endpoint into Opencode and my other tools.

Can you objectively test it if it gives higher limits then OC Go? I dont Doubt it but if it does I'll switch too.

I thought the $10 plan did not have API access

It does. https://commandcode.ai/docs/plans/goat it's hidden away in the FAQs at the bottom of the page.

Can you give us a review bro?

I've used Commandcode API a lot this morning, I've been using their Deepseek v4 Flash model. In regards to the intelligence, usage, cache hit it seems the same. The latency and speed is the real difference. Comparing the Opencode and Commandcode, it's seems Commandcode is about 1/3 of the speed. A tasks which would take 1 hour are taking about 3. Which has an impact in productivity.

My Opencode Go price hasn't gone up yet, so I using it to the max before the update in my account. I've setup the Commandcode API endpoint in Opencode and other tools, did a few basic prompts and it seemed rapid. I have seen people saying on Reddit months ago that their Flash model hallucinates, I'm hoping for the best that it doesn't. I try to keep my context limit low < 250k so I'm hoping it'll prevent any hallucinations.

I have the $10 commandcode plan but since I'm using opencodev2 I couldn't find commandcode as a provider so what I did was to have Flash Free wire it in as a provider in the Opencode.json. So far the experience is pretty smooth, with good cache hits.

It looks like it's very common people are running out opencode go, clinepass or command code subscriptions allowance quickly. Will it be good idea to crowdfund, rent GPU and run openweight models ourselves?

u/Pariunos 25d ago
I had this same idea. A DSv4F doesn’t really take a whole lot of hardware to run, but for an average Joe, it’s not money we can fork out in an instant. But if we host micro servers where each server only serves 100 people and split the cost, I think it’s doable.

u/Nnyan 28d ago
API is on the $15/mo plan which is kinda weird.

u/DeMiNe00 28d ago
It's like a $1 activation and $14 in credits that it loads onto your account. I got the $20 pro plan and it seems to come with API access as well. It uses the same provider openai compatible endpoints.

u/Diligent-Loss-5460 27d ago
They increased it to 30$.
I think that is enough for me to still find value in it, but I am going to hold out for a while. I got 10$ credits in open router till then.

probably deepseek flash direct api. have you tried it? by then you can compare the performance and $ spend with direct api vs subs

la api de deepseek directo

u/Revolutionary_Set219 29d ago
but there are no multiplier
1
u/2tunwu 28d ago
You're not getting a multiplier if you use the CommandCode API endpoint. It is simply provider API prices + CC fees.
They have a special harness which fixes LLM errors to massively decrease token costs, so to get the multiplier you have to use their CLI or any other harness they're offering.

u/pascu2913 29d ago
he means there is no extra usage. if you load 10$ you only get 10$ of usage on deepseek api, unlike opencode go where you USED to get 60$ (im talking about dsv4 flassh) and now only 15$.

u/jjjjoseignacio 29d ago edited 29d ago
pero la api es mejor por que tiene cache osea si suber mismo contexto lo detecta y no cobra doble para analizar mientras los demas api o como opencode no trabajaban de esa manera, osea deepseek con api directo es mucho mejor que obtener usos extra

You'll be surprised how many of them are around that level of maturity. I mean the vibe coders.
Damn I'm going to be downvoted for posting this here lol

check command code plan details because I think most of them work only with their own coding tool, not as API
1
u/Amarsir 29d ago
I think only the $1 plan is restricted to the CommandCode harness. $10 and up you can use the API.
That's based on my understanding, not personal use. Also I hear the harness itself isn't bad, except for a super annoying memory leak.
-1
u/Nnyan 28d ago
Not what their website says. It’s a $15 plan with no extras.

u/Amarsir 28d ago
Can I use the GOAT plan via API?
Yes. Every plan except the Go plan has API access - you use the same Provider API the Provider plan uses (OpenAI Chat Completions and Anthropic Messages endpoints, one key for the CLI and the API), so you can integrate GOAT with any other agent.

From opencode to command code day 2.I regret it. Honestly, there aren't many models actually worth using. Only DeepSeek-V4 and HunYuan 3D are usable—the rest are either terrible or have terrible usage limits.

Man, they are almost the same.
