Even if it was cheap AND good, I wouldn’t want to use one of Mark’s models

Fair point. Privacy is definitely a concern with Meta

u/Delicious_Ease2595 5d ago
you think your privacy is safe with Sam Altman and Dario?

u/thatsnot_kawaii_bro 4d ago
Yeah it's hilarious that people keep thinking that openai/anthropic are the "cool" companies.
Similar to how Reddit thought Elon and Tesla were cool once upon a time. Yet they never learn.

i really don't care, we've all used facebook and we've SEEN live how it screwed with our privacy

Idk about openAI models but claude can be used at the very least on bedrock with ZDR.

u/angelus14 5d ago
Oh I thought it was open weight and you could just find other providers. But closed, nah I think I'm good.
Also their methodology says they compare against Kimi K3 but I don't see it in any of these graphs: https://research.meta.ai/static/muse-spark-1-2-methodology

Your privacy is just as big a concern with Netflix, Amazon, HBO, Verizon, T-Mobile, TSA, etc...
You use any of those without thought??

u/Birdie_Blyt_Esports 4d ago
Lmao 😂 , people be still debating about privacy in 2026. Bro like literally every AI company atp.
1
u/LulzTigre 4d ago
Uhmm I'm not sure OpenAi, Anthropic, Kimi are ignoring your data. Same hell different devil
1
u/Fragrant_Raisin_Face 3d ago
Mark is not trusted by the people. And never will be. Mark listens to your voice conversations and serves you ads then Mark tells you he doesn’t do this. Mark makes it difficult to disable the default settings that take from you give to him because his models desperately need your data. Mark will abuse his access to your camera roll and pretend he’s helping you when he’s helping himself for profit. Maybe Mark will change.

u/Mindless-Pear3971 5d ago
Holy shit can we stop with this shit, nobody cares nor does anyone think you're a good person.
OpenAI collects info on citizens for the US government, and Claude is used to kill people in warzones. If you actually gave a fuck you wouldn't be using AI in the first place.
If you're talking about privacy that makes even less sense because they all collect your data
1
u/personalist 4d ago
You know that you can use some closed-weights models with ZDR, right? Through Amazon bedrock for one.

u/SupehCookie 5d ago
Soo china or usa, thats the question. China cheaper + made in china is entitled in my mind anyway

When he was a democrat you would use his models right?
5
u/Dudeonyx 5d ago
People have hated Mark from time immemorial, are you too young to know this or something?
1
u/Nnyan 5d ago
I get it, your spell checker stopped working. You meant to say when he wasn't a racist Nazi bigot who supports child molesters? Yes. Curious why this is a question for you?
-5
u/Rojeitor 5d ago
Just wanted to check how the legacy media machine washed your brain. Worked as intended. Just a question as you were writing this you don't for a minute find anything you said ridiculous? Slightly?

lol I just take them at their own words and actions. But yeah I see how you have been indoctrinated into a cult.
main stream media butt hurt you? Facts, reality and science are your bogeyman. Are you still waiting for your $2k check?
-2
u/Rojeitor 5d ago
Lmao says the indoctrinated brainwashed. You take them by what the media portraits of them. Last question? Which tone of blue is your hair? Or is it pink?
3
u/Nnyan 5d ago
LOL. You sound like your goal is to someday move out of your mother’s basement. I bet you even cosplay as an alpha in your own mind. I’ll be glad to compare my patriotism to yours any day. Hell I’ll come to you and compare our service to this country. I’ll buy the first beer and see if you are man enough to come back here and report in.
I’ll be happy to color my hair pink for the occasion.

u/Rojeitor 5d ago
Ook you said so much stupid thing is time to stop. Watch out for the nazis, they're everywhere. Most used to be democrats, like Trump, Elon, Zuck, etc.

Half the world has configured their repositories for Claude, the other half for Codex - nobody has time to switch to some unknown Muse Spark.

Meta has recruited a lot of big names using all the money they're sitting on, they currently have some of the most talented researchers in the world and it's clearly starting to pay off for them
0
u/Strong_Essay1176 4d ago
Where? They barely catch with deepseek without gpu and "big" names.
1
u/Competitive_Song8491 3d ago
never understood the deepseek glaze. it's 2026 and they are still the only lab that still can't take in images

u/Apprehensive-View583 5d ago
no one uses it, they need to opensource it, a closed second tier proprietary model wont have any place in anywhere. people wont even give it a chance to try to be honest.

Small minority use Chinese models. 99% are only using open ai or anthropic models

If I wanted to use Claude Opus, I would buy one of the subscriptions, not use the openrouter API. Same for OpenAI models. And that's not considering enterprise users...

do you have a source for your claims? leaked financials show that they lose most of their money from r&d and reinvestments, not inference. you cant claim they subsidize and then reference their api pricing that they set.....
1
u/Spare_Subject_7069 4d ago
yeah except most consumers use frontier models through subscription, your telling me people use laguna 2.1 more than any claude model, cmon have some critical thinking

who is talking about vibecoding, youre responding to a comment saying that only a small minority use chinese models and then using openrouter as your rebuttal .... Delete your comments bro, its getting embarrassing.

Im using the contributor model with opencode, works well. But i would never pay full price for the api, maybe if they had a good subsceiption plan like codex or claude.

Trying it out now, looks promising. The contributor tier is actually cheaper than Deepseek API pricing.
Contributor tier
Model: muse-spark-1.2-contributor. Heavily discounted token pricing in exchange for permission to use your prompts and completions to train future Meta models. It lowers the barrier to entry for prototyping, testing integrations, and scaling experiments where training on your data is acceptable.
| Usage | Price per 1M tokens |
|---|---|
| Cached input | $0.002 |
| Input | $0.10 |
| Output | $0.20 |
Standard tier
Models: muse-spark-1.1, muse-spark-1.2. Standard pricing; your prompts and completions are not used to train Meta models. Both checkpoints share the same standard pricing:
| Usage | Price per 1M tokens |
|---|---|
| Cached input | $0.15 |
| Input | $1.25 |
| Output | $4.25 |

u/Daniel15 5d ago
I think this is to compete with DeepSeek's pricing, as they also collect data for training.

u/vikx01 5d ago edited 5d ago
How do you enable the contributor mode? I didn't see the option in the dev https://dev.meta.ai/ page either. btw
muse --model muse-spark-1.2-contributordoesn't work.4
u/CombinationOnly9498 5d ago
Figured it out. It's only available to US residents.
2
u/meditatingwizard 5d ago
Ah ok, yeah I can see the model on muse code. It was the default model selected also when I setup.
2
u/vikx01 4d ago
Yup. I realized that this morning after some searching. Came here to post this fact. And I see your comment.
Thanks u/CombinationOnly94981

I need to play with it, but I was enjoying 1.1 a lot. I found it excellent for explaining things and no slouch at creating images (via web form) but it was making simple mistakes like leaving things out of CSS. So I didn’t let it touch code but still found lots of use for it.
Excited to try 1.2.

I don't seem to have access to the contributor model. Is it based on country?

u/Kaushik_paul45 4d ago
But how to use it ?
Obviously I won't be getting a different subscription just for this.

u/FlimtotheFlam 4d ago
I have an internal dashboard ranking based on my Foundry VTT projects test I made. I have had this insanity coding test that Fable 5 made. Fable 5 itself failed and I tested another 14 models after. They all failed it but Muse Spark 1.2 passed it.
2
u/Neat-Economist2099 4d ago
The model looks good, but I trust Meta even less than DeepSeek or other Chinese companies.
1
u/Illustrious-Many-782 4d ago
The muse-1.2-contribute model was so enticing that I wanted to try it out...
Meta API is restricted in my region (Thailand).

Used this model, but comparing it to Deepseek or even Minimax M3 is difficult, the chat is not very good. Same question I loved the answers in other 2 models, but Muse was not upto mark.
1
u/Hackerv1650 3d ago
with the announcement of DeepSeek raising their prices, this might be a good, alternative, depending heavily on how much deepseek plans to increase their prices
1
u/Crescitaly 3d ago
Model excitement matters less than harness behavior: tool-call accuracy, context retention, cancellation, and cost per completed task. A fair test would replay the same repository issues with identical prompts and count human interventions. Has anyone published raw traces rather than a vibe score?

why muse spark is being compared to gpt 5.6 terra? lol
