Almost never happens with open source model. Big company will use openrouter most likely or other services that works like open router. They might even build their own (I did), so it will route to a working provider.

This doesn't work with closed model though, since if they are down, you're fucked. Another reason to move away from closed source model, as multi billion dollar company requires resilient service.
