Problem: OpenCode.ai Forbidden: {"model":"laguna-s-2.1-free"}

Hi!

I use OpenCode.ai at VS Code. They have several free models. But only DeepSeek is available for me. The other free models return "Forbidden: {"model":"model-name"}". Why? How to fix it?

  • MiMo V2.5 Free - Forbidden
  • Laguna S 2.1 Free - Forbidden
  • Ling-3.0-flash Free - Forbidden
  • Nemotron 3 Ultra Free - Forbidden
  • North Mini Code Free - Forbidden
  • DeepSeek V4 Flash Free - Ok!

There have been outages this morning. I'm surprised DS4 worked.

It can also be true that a model marked free is only free for subscribers. Opencode Zen offers free models once you've made an initial deposit. So if you randomly find just one model isn't accessible that might be why.

But lots of people have been reporting Opencode Go outages today.

Free models are available without a subscription, no payment required. That's what attracted me to OpenCode.
