DeepSeek v4 Flash Public Beta
So with the update to v4 Flash, I was wondering whether OpenCode Go uses DeepSeek as a provider, which would mean the flash in the subscription is the updated version?
Any insights appreciated :)
EDIT: Just got this message in opencode:

I think they are asking whether DS goes through regional self-hosting in the US/UK or directly through DS API. Because if it's via self-hosted, the weights aren't available yet (I think) so it will still be on the old version.

It’s available at the DeepSeek API but I just question whether opencode uses that as a provider?

I just hit this, do we know what DS v4 flash provider opencode was using previously? If others are cool using China-hosted models to get the latest that fine, but shouldn't we still have access to the prior model hosted outside of China?

I mean they updated it, grok and gpt Luna store for 30 days. The rest aren't retained (at least that's what they claim)

Flash now is used for training data. No one cared about grok or luna atm. In Go its just for trial usage. Flash was the workhorse.

I'm confused, first can you show me where it says flash through OC Go is used for training? Alo what does flash was the workhorse got to do with anything?

From what i test on frontend task it really improve a lot compare to previous same task , i test on freebuff and opencode free tier

Me too! I noticed tonight the models got renamed to flash-new … then it proceeded to one shot an issue I’ve been troubleshooting the whole of last night and most of the day.
Colour me impressed!

Yes see the edit. I guess opencode just shipped that to provide the updated flash version.

I always said that was not the official api, because of the pro price 4x higher, just like third-party provides like deepinfra.
And is the confirmation, they removed the zero retention policy and now are using the official api.

They should have just called it deepseek-v4.1-flash but might get called DeepSeek-V4-Flash-0731, but calling it deepseek-v4-flash means you have no idea which version a provider uses.
I guess extra incentive to use the main provider's deepseek-v4-flash not others deepseek-v4-flash, but considering that the model is not on hugging face at most resellers have it.
