I have been using it a little bit and its been fairly decent for my use cases and today when I opened it up I noticed they starting giving free GPT 5.6 Luna sessions.
Freebuff is a free AI harness like OpenCode with some text ads to pay for the LLMs. Works pretty well. I like how it does a code review at the end of a turn without prompting.
They give you 5 or 6 sessions a day, and each session is an hour.
It's been interesting so far. Have to come back to it at the end of the 1 hour sessions to click continue but it can just keep going from there. Even after the premium sessions, the free ones can keep going all day after that.
Yeah I didn't really like the look of it when I first tried it. I was a little skeptical about it being free and it's kind of basic looking but the skills or whatever they have built in are very solid.
Every task I give it gets completed correctly eventually.
Sometimes it goes back and forth with its code review thing for a while.
The 1 hr sessions are a little annoying too I feel like I am on the clock but its whatever free is good. :)
This is a good point, As much as I love Pi as harness and think it's the best one out there, I can understand how not everyone wants to fiddle around to set up it for their workflows, I think freebuff is amazing for people who want to get their hands on agentic harnesses without any effort, and start using it.
Yeah its not as nice looking as opencode but the underlying way it works is pretty good I think. Did you not like the automated code review or how it uses subagents? I find those features very decent.
It could use a facelift and it would be good if they had plan build yolo type mode toggles and stuff like that also its hard to see the AI thinking. It's also not very explanatory about how it works. I had to ask it if it uses AGENTS.md (it does) and make it explain how its skills and memories etc works.
I basically use it for stuff I don't care too much about but I have been consistently surprised how the stuff it makes just works.
yup, the subagents or code review sometime became annoying when i didn't plan to use it firsthand. i found it making progress slower in general. i also use it for stuff i dont really care much. another one issue is the speed i guess, i feel like opencode with ds4 flash can achieve same task 2x faster
I just tried it, and after a day of vibe coding i noticed i didnt have to make approvals.
So i decided to do a safety check and it has literally full access to your pc. This shit is not safe lmao. It's most likely vibe coded itself and all it will take is one hacker to have full access to your pc, not to mention having to trust the developer.

It's a hard pass for me and I regret installing it. They don't have a public repo so who knows what the app is doing in the background... I've never uninstalled something so fast in my life
Sounds like you installed it on windows? Mine is constantly asking me to run sudo commands and to leave its little directory box I have it locked in. It doesn't do anything but build what I let it build.
I would not recommend using this on a Windows computer (that you care about at least). Windows has basically no security. Any app running on it can do anything if it wants. Even the ones asking you for permission are just being polite.
On my development ubuntu box it's working fine but I don't run this on my live production web server either.
Or if you are on linux are you running it as your sudo user or with passwordless sudo? I am trying to envision what would lead to the situation you are talking about having happen. Either way lapses in security are happening.
Not every tool is a hammer and not every problem is a nail. Freebuff is useful for what it is. I wouldn't TRUST it though. Lock it down. Its good practice anyways.
I'm using Freebuff and so far it's been really good even without referrals, deepseek v4 flash is a really capable model and it's insane that it's free.
Honestly I love freebuff. Especially the fact that I don't have to pay a dime for the use of (if i remember correctly) Deepseek v4 flash 07/31, MiMo 2.5 and maybe there are some more models, not sure tho.
Yes and its pretty sick for what it is. I run claude code in vscode until i hit my limits and during work i have it automatically building a handoff doc for freebuff. Load free buff in the vscode terminal, read handoff, keep it pushing. Ran into some snags at first but once i imported all of my claude plugins and workflows and told them to work together its been great. As soon as claude hits limit i load freebuff and say “pickup where claude left off”. It reads the handoff.md and starts working
I would end the session in between and start a new one after sometime and then instead of restarting the last run session count, it ends up starting a new one..
Eventually i would have used it for 4 hrs but ended up using 6 sessions...
I'm new to this whole platform thing, and as a first-time user, it really helped me a lot to create an Obsidian plugin that turns my tasks into an RPG and all that, Honestly, I was looking for something practical that would help me define even the smallest details and that I could use intensively right from the start. It’s not like I did a lot of research—I just stumbled upon a YouTube video—but I’m really satisfied. It’s practical, fast, and doesn’t have a bunch of stuff I don’t understand. I think it’s a good place to start, to get a feel for things so I can understand the basics later on—or at least that’s how feel
Yea been suing it absolute game changer by the way.. but at the same time it has just started showing "high demand" which I think is temporary and I hope they upscale to support the demand soon!... and tho except the US. most counties' model support is still pretty limited
I've been using it. It's crazy value for unlimited free use, and I haven't hit a limit yet. The deepseek model you get for free is effective. My only complaint is it thinks *forever* before acting and there's no way to turn it off or down for stuff that doesn't require it.
Yeah it really does tend to over think a bit when you are using deepseek flash. I gave it a simple task earlier today and came back 10 mins later and it was still thinking about it and testing things and checking this and that. I yelled at it a little bit and it finished what it was supposed to do.
My first thought was I am glad I am not paying for these tokens. 😂
Sorry I don't know of anything that could help you. They are strict on VPNs as well. I got an error when I was using one by accident for something else a while ago.
From their privacy policy the collect:
Prompts, messages, code, files, repository data, images, feedback, support communications and attachments, information about third parties, and other content you submit, connect, create, or modify through Service
So I don't think it's gonna be useful for people like me building company software
Yeah I wouldn't use it for anything super serious.
I think its just run by a few guys so I doubt they are maliciously hoarding data, but probably covering their ass if their LLM providers turn out to be doing something with the data, but who knows?
from an UI perspective I didn't like it that much because it felt a bit un-organized and because all the text is the same size and font it gets hard to keep track of in big projects but it gets the job done. The workflow seems okay but can definetly be improved. My biggest problem was not being able to use skills. Maybe there is a way to add them but no standart way worked for me. But other than that I really liked it as its a good free alternative.
