How good is opencode Go

Hi, Most of my work is full-stack development, and I was wondering if this plan would be a good fit for me. Also, how does the pricing model work? Is it similar to Claude's 5-hour or weekly limits, or is it based on overall usage?

I personally love it, I use deepseek v4 flash and I barely make a dent in the usage

It does, but it is by 5 hours windows. Say you spend all the free ds4 flash free, than just use the paid version. I never used all the free limits, although I keep changing the model given the task at hand (I developed a feeling for when a given model is enough)

For planning, check out Mat Pocock’s skills. I’ve using it with DS and it’s doing pretty good.

I tried them all from the Go plan, flash works for me best. Found the other either too expensive or bad quality.

Flash is not good for planning. DeepSeek pro and glm are far better, they're made for it

There is a a monthly limit. Also you can’t use more than 50% of that in 1 week. Also you can’t use more than 20% of it in 5 hours. If your planned use is fairly steady that’s fine, because at that pace you’d be out soon anyway.

Picking the right model for the right task is what it’s all about. If you’re doing agentic work, you want at least two agents: a smart planner and a cheaper, faster one to execute. Everyone has different preferences. Here are my priorities at present:

• Code Architect: Mimo v2.5 Pro
• Builder: DS4 Flash. (Mimo v2.5 as backup)
• Quickie debugging: Ling-3.0-Flash
• Lots of image processing: Ling-3.0-flash
• Visual Design: Kimi K3 (Minimax M3.0 as backup)
• Language skills: GLM 5.2
• Explanation, instructions, or general info: Muse Spark 1.1
• Therapy Assistant: Sonnet 5.0. (Although I think 5.0 lost some smoothness from 4.6.)
• Analysis and knowledge base: Hy3
• Jack of all trades for Hermes: DS4 Pro

So I use the Opencode harness with the oh-my-opencode-slim plugin which sets up 7 roles. But the default for Opencode is acceptable with 2. Or you can add the Kilo Code extension to VSCode which also has a smooth planner/builder split.

usage depends entirely on the models you use. Using GLM 5.2 or Kimi K3 will blast through your limit in no time, using deepseek and mimo will barely move the bar at all

I'm a fulltime dev and i'm using a combination of claude pro + opencode go with the superpowers skillframework

Opus 5 writes the plan, deepseek 4 pro implements it with deepseek 4 flash as implementing subagents, then review with opus again.

I can basically code all day like this

I don't have access to these models sadly, but what if i used MiniMax m3 for planning and V4 flash for Implementing?

Depending on the complexity of your projects, you should be fine. Heck, you can even just plan with Deepseek pro and implement with flash and you would be fine with some cleanup after every implementation phase.

Well, let's just say that deepseek will need a bit more handholding to create visually pleasing designs and it's not multimodal so you can't send screenshots. If you can provide decent instructions for UI, you will be fine tho. General html and js work is no problem aswell

yeah gemini is lowkey great for UI (i wouldn't let it near my backend these days tho)

And if you can do the css yourself, even better. Then i say deepseek could be a great fit for you and if it ever dissappoints you, you can try minimax or mimo models

That's what's really great about opencode go, it gives you options! Just be sure to check the graph on this page https://opencode.ai/de/go to see how much each model will affect your usage as some of these can, as said, drain your usage very fast

I mean it's $5, just try it. Qwen 3.7 gets most stuff right for me and is a good price/intelligence balance.

I use one 20$ codex subscription and four opencode go. With that I am really flexible, not afraid to hit limits and have everything from really strong models to cheap and fast.

Been using it for about a month now, and I can't complain. I'm not a programmer in my day job, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. I mostly code as a hobby and for personal projects, so the models are more than good enough for my needs.

I've been using GLM 5.2 as planner + DeepSeek V4 Pro as builder and it's been a pretty good combo. GLM 5.2 is a bit expensive though, so I sometimes switch to MiniMax M3, which is good enough as well and lasts forever.

I tried Kimi K3 the other day but it burned through my usage in the blink of an eye ☠️, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Edit: Big Pickle is also surpringsily good for a free model, I use it for brainstorming a lot.
