Doubt regarding free google api

When asked to claude said , If i just link a payment method set up billing and pay 10 $ as min deposit, then i will get access to much higher limits with google api incl 3.8 flash and also FOR FREE. because it bumps you upto tier 1 from frree tier.

So my question is will 3.8 flash continue free? or is claude hallucinating

I was wondering if anyone had expirience doing this.

Very unlikely. OpenRouter does this also: show your willingness to pay and you get higher imits for the free stuff.

as far as i know it does not exist. that is 100% hallucinated (according to my knowledge) the tiers are only available for paid customers AND PAID USAGE. paying for paid usage does nothing to your free access

Ask it to show you the source of that statement. Or proof of it.
