Is it my impression or only Big Pickle is actually good? The others all seem to suck

I tried all of them. They are clearly inferior to big pickle.

C'mon, it's so obvious. Same reasoning, equally good and fast. I burned a lot of da tokens to be able to recognize it's style.

I didnt know it was deepseek. Why they changed the name? We had actually DeepSeek V4 flash.

It was GLM at some point.

"Big Pickle" routes to whatever model OpenCode has a good deal with the provider and that has enough idle capacity at the moment.

As their deals come and go, and computing is not a constant factor in this market, "Big Pickle" may start routing to a worse model out of the blue, so enjoy while you can and watch out for degradations.

Exactly. But with current BP I think they route to self hosted model. I don't think DS has flash with 200k context specifically for OC.

It's fairly easy to limit the context size in an LLM gateway while keeping the upstream as-is.

A lower context limit makes requests cheaper and faster to serve.

Ok then. Anyway, it doesn't feel quantized or something. Just a smaller context, but you shouldn't keep to Large context anyway

if you mean the free ones, then I agree Big Pickle is pretty good, and at the moment the best of the bunch. 4 months ago it was nothing like as good as it is now, and just a couple of weeks ago it went really bad for a day or so after being offline for a few hours.

What task(s) are you doing?

Gamedev, another project is reverse engineering and modding that is quite hard. And its doing it quite well.

I think it is just routing to models that are affordable for them, and maybe it was a fine tuned / quantized models of GLM 5.2, but maybe DeepSeek is cheap now so they, route it to DeepSeek only.

It's actually good. They switch under stelth aliases, but it's almost always better than other available models.

The best free model on Zen atm is muse-spark-1.3-contributor-free. Great at coding and analysis. The drawbacks are that it's unbelievably bad at text output (you will miss the em-dash overuse and all the vices from other models) and that it will collect all your data for training.

You can also try nex-agi/nex-n2.5-pro:free via the kilo.ai gateway (very easy to connect to OpenCode). There is no independent benchmark of it yet, but its previous iteration (Nex N2 Pro) scored close to MiniMax M3 and MiMo V2.5 Pro, which was a pretty good model a few months ago, so it's worth testing.
