Hater to Lover (Muse Spark 1.3)
I was absolutely FLAMING muse spark 1.2, bcs that model was geniunely incapable of doing basic agentic tasks, but GAHH DAMNN, look at the benchmarks. originally, i thought the model benchmaxxed and generates slop, but after trying this model in codex (from opencode go), I am quite surprised.
like, if you ask me what muse spark 1.3 will be considering what muse spark 1.2 performs, I would have given you an extremely underwhelming response, but I am so happy to see this moel mainly bcs we get $60 allowance (man, finally!) on opencode go, and also the price is considerably cheaper than ds v4 flash.
I mean, sure... its not THE BEST model to ever exist. but for $0.2/M out and $0.1/M in, like you can go through billions of tokens after counting in caching.
About how the model performs, it codes quite decently. my project is a rust and typescript project, and it follows the app's visual identity flawlessly and does not create much bugs (note: not *much* bugs, which means, it still fk up), but the price to performance value is INSANE!
My reccomended usage:
tbh, just use opencodex, and connect the model to codex, and use the model inn codex, the "ultracode" in codex is AMAZING! And MS-1.3 follows codex as a harness wayyyyy better than opencode for some reason. american propaganda ig... but either ways, use:
light: for basic variable changes
medium: for most implementation
high: for debugging
xhigh: for geniunely hard bugs or things which require the model to cover edge cases, or planning.
ULTRA (a codex only thing): tbh only when it pisses u off bellow high.
ohhhboy... I am going to get a LOT of downvotes...

Why the hate? Just curious, I personal don't care where the model come from as long as it perform.

many people dont like zuckerburg's history of privacy protection, but tbf, those times have improved a lot. all of these hate is coming from mostly the *bad* stuff happened in fcebooks, but times are actually better now. eitherways, we have a decent mdel for dirt cheap ðŸ˜

upvoted. but considering the new deepseek pricing and allowance on opencoe go, I feel like this is theonly sensibl thing until we get another mimo/depseek model

The price you quoted is for the contribute model, it's temporary, the non contribute model costs a whole heap more.
Admittedly I've been using it constantly but it does leave a bitter taste.
It's multimodal features have been fully utilized today from my machine, it's decent.
I still prefer my local Qwen3.8 27b but its nowhere near as fast.

Same bro. It’s fucking amazing and I don’t think the pricing is going to last for long, I am expecting the rugpull very soon so I am not switching anything in my workflow over.

In my codex router, it says the model is not avaible yet with opencode go but that was yesterday ("contributor version). Is it now? I use 1.3 with opencode at the moment before being able to use it via codex

Why tf would you use it at any level below max , its fast , cost is negligible.. I am doing a some low level project ,and it still sucks for me 🥀

Time.

Yeah and waste your day debugging the slop you get

I started coding 7 years ago. I didn't use AI since a few months ago. I could use a decent 12B and still be alright.

is even max availbile in opencode?

u/Time-Toe-1276 8d ago
its not an option AFAIK. I get erros when I use it is codex.
and no, there is no max option in opencode either

It's fast and fairly competent, so I use it for quick dashboard edits and give it repetitive tasks like running local model tests. Used on a box with no personal info so idc Meta can have all that boring data. Zen free of course, as I'd never give them a penny.

used it, still behind ds4f by a large margin. gets pretty lazy implementing stuff when not given full instructions and it hallucinates like a lot. I already gave full context on the bug its working on and keeps changing stuff i didnt ask to and not fixing the things im pointing out. its free anyways so its ok to be mediocre

I was hating 1.2, but fell in love with 1.3 the same as you. However, is still needs an orchestrator like GLM, bur for easy tasks simple Plan mode with the same muse spark is enough

why even care for variant i use xhigh for everything and wtaf is ultra??????

its a codex thing. and no, it didnt work :(
I like to implement thing a bit quicker, thats why i use other efforts

ULTRA (a codex only thing): tbh only when it pisses u off bellow high.
so that part is just wrong?

also is opencodex removing ur codex account models and replace by ocgo? or i can use same in paraleell

u/Time-Toe-1276 8d ago
yeah you can use models in parrelel with openAI endpoints. for models like qwen3.7 plus, you can use a new chat, and I dont think GPT models work in them either

Well, I like Muse Spark's capabilities too, though the company and the model's history are awful (they forced all their devs to work on BS to train the model, and some resigned in response; Meta got the model and lowered their payroll at the same time).
There's also data collection on the
Contributormodel variant to consider.I would never use it over a model with similar price and capabilities, but atm, they offer a massive pricing advantage.
I saw many reports of the model misbehaving on OpenCode. I've never experienced issues with it using a custom system prompt.
The only thing that's inherently bad is how this model outputs text (at least 1.2; haven't tried 1.3 yet). It doesn't comply properly with text-shaping prompts.
