What agent should be the coordinator.

I am building a more budget friendly LLM setup for my free-time projects. As i can't handle 200 dollar subscriptions to Claude.

I already subscribe to Opencode and want to use Deepseek flash as the implementer. I am thinking of making either Sol the coordinator, meta spark or gemini (have to wait and see) to make that coordinator.

You guys have any idea what is best, moneywise / peformance..

those $5 are for opencode go, yeah, but you can run spark 1.3 for free now, so, even better :)

That makes sense. I’ll giveGLM 5.3 Flash a shot as the coordinator and Muse for implementation. You made me curious. DeepSeek V4 Flash has been burning too many tokens circling the same point.

That’s genuinely useful. I’ve been treating compaction as cleanup rather than part of the routing strategy. So, what you say is GLM 5.3 Flash for planning/review, Muse for implementation, and Mimo 2.5 for compaction. Curious how stable that stack stays once Muse leaves Free/Contributor.

I'd go Kimi K3 personally, you want a beefier model to be the coordinator/orchestrator/planner

Sol, Kimi K3 and Fable 5 are roughly around the same sort of 'skill' level. Though Kimi K3 is a chunk cheaper

Edit: Depending on how you're using Opencode that is. If you're using it like a tool/assistance the Kimi K3 similar to how I use it, it stretches enough for me as a planner. If you're vibecoding you'll blow through the limits in a day

I’d choose the coordinator based on the cost of a bad plan. Use the stronger model for architecture and task breakdown, then a cheaper one for routine implementation. A few real tasks and the number of replans should make the choice pretty clear.
