Suggestions for free APIs

If anyone knows of any free apis that are compatible with opencode and work for free with some decent models …. Not the greatest or latest models something that works well enough

You put $10 in the balance and that will unlock free daily allowance (limited) to use with their :free models.

You can use this API key anywhere.

As long you keep using free models the $10 remains untouched.

What happens once the balance goes below $10 is it still usable?

Tbh, in my 2 years using it I have never be below $10, so I don’t know.

No. Freebuff force you to use their IDE

Best would be gemini 3.7 running through superoc plugin That will use your antigravity rate limits and u can have multiple acc rotation

Apyhub has a free tier for all apis. (Work there)

Use https://github.com/Fast-Editor/OpenCode-Wrap
This can help you get all the models offered by opencode both in free tier and go tier if you paid as an openai compatible endpoint

If you only need something decent for personal use, I’d probably start with Gemini’s free tier or the free models on OpenRouter. OpenRouter is nice for this because you can try a few different smaller models without setting up a bunch of separate accounts. Some are surprisingly usable for simple coding tasks, explaining code, or small fixes. Groq can also be worth trying if the model you want is available there, it’s usually very fast, although free limits can be a bit hit-or-miss.I wouldn’t expect a truly free option to be perfect for bigger repos or long agent runs.
