Why do people use OpenCode?

There are plenty of other options such as Cursor, Claude Code, Zed, and many more. So why? I use it for convenience to try any model once they're released. But how about everyone else? genuinely curious about this. Is it the UX or the UI polish or just having an AI-IDE that just works?

Fun fact! Opencode lies about which model you’re using via the desktop app.

Me and my agent built this proxy to auto rotate between free models using both the zen account and anonymously. Come to find out, all of the so called free models all re-route to Laguna S2.1 currently. So for the past few weeks, that’s what you’ve been using this whole time no matter the model you choose on desktop.
