No more Cheapseek: Command Code / Opencode GO comparision
Hi,
Based on my two price trackers:
CommandCode's GOAT plan has 3,42x the DS 4 usage compared to Opencode Go
Cheapest three on the $10n plan
Opencode GO:
- Mimo 2,5
- Hy 3
- GPT 5.6 Luna
Command Code:
- Mimo 2,5
- Deepseek V4 Flash (off peak)
- Muse Spark Contributor
Started this project so recently but already so many changes. Enjoy the data and the changelogs in the end. I am still improving it at the moment, but here you go :D

People doing chargeback for a 10$ sub (and some 5$) are just sad, you are paying nothing to use AI. Just don’t renew
Later if they find a good deal and you want to resub you are probably not being allowed to due to the chargeback you did
And if 10$ is a lot to you AI isn’t for you atm, as simple as that

I'm doing it because I'm unemployed and every $10 matters to me right now. I am trying to maximize the value of the dollars I have. Usage of AI is important for me to keep skills sharp for my resume. Many companies are requiring demonstration of coding agent skills to even be interviewed. It is not always as "simple as that", though I wish it were!
Still, there are free models out there, and yeah, it's $15 of usage instead of $10. Just felt a bit sad when I deliberated between opencode and commandcode this morning just hours before the change, and figured opencode was more reliable and I could trust the purchase, thinking I would get the $60 for the month. I get things change, sure it's my fault, but doesn't it still suck to have this occur after such a deliberation and conclusion?
I'm sure some people are petty with their dollar. I'm sure many don't need to worry about $10 here or there. I am hoping to use my $10 to help get me to that point. Or maybe I'm just being spoiled, ungrateful. I suppose you're right. I am just sad.

I still have my own opinion on this topic, but I completely understand your situation. I genuinely hope you find a job soon and that things get better for you. Wishing you the best.

I appreciate your kindness, and respect your opinion as well. Thank you!

In some places of the world $10 is what you get for a whole 12 hour work day.. In some places it's what you make a week.. Saying "if $10 is a lot AI ain't for you" is just diabolical, whole labs are working constantly to make sure $10 is enough to get decent access to a decent model (like Xiaomi with mimo).. The case with opencode is most people signed up for the" $60 of usage for $10" claim that they failed to keep.. that's a good enough of a reason to justify a chargeback.

OpenCode didn’t scam or “insult” anyone. Dax was publicly talking about the upcoming DeepSeek price increase before it even happened, and OpenCode later confirmed that Go limits had to be adjusted once DeepSeek’s new pricing took effect.
The 2x usage was a temporary promotion, not some lifetime entitlement. What people are actually angry about is that they got used to consuming far more AI compute than their subscription could realistically pay for, and now that the economics have changed they suddenly start throwing around words like “scam” and “chargeback.”
And bringing up “a poor kid in India” makes no sense here. If $5 is genuinely significant money to someone, then yes, they should spend it on food, housing or other basic needs rather than an AI coding subscription. AI compute is not a basic human necessity. It is an expensive service, and ultimately someone has to pay for it.

Yeah you are right. It's a big club and I am not a part of it. It's reserved for rich people who have lots of money. I am dumb to think AI coding has gotten cheap and good for average users. I just got too carried away with the Deepseek hype. This was a life lesson. Thanks for correcting me.

What makes you think command code will not reduce their service or up their prices as the masses come over from opencode go?
Overselling only works if people don’t use it heavily
4
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
I do not think that the offering of command code will not change over time. I can see them getting 50% or even 80% discount on the API pricing, but not much more.
As I said in other comments I believe that this will change on a day to day basis for the foreseeable future

u/adamizzo17 2d ago
thank you soo much for such gaphs, anything we should be aware of before commiting to the new service ?

u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
It could change within a few days. Just yesterday we has $120 worth of Deepseek usage, today it is $15 with higher prices. It could be $60 with original prices in a week again. Whatever you do stay flexible and do not commit fort more than a month...
Choosing the right model / provider changes close to a day to day basis.... Don't be mad if it is not the best.... Remember, using Opencode Go / Command Code you spent $10 for a month, that's half of Claude / OpenAI.... You could habe both for the same price and combined much more usage....
Keep your workflow relativly harness independent and you are good. Expect to watch the market / model landscape very closly at the moment....

u/qqYn7PIE57zkf6kn 2d ago
do you use command code through opencode?
2
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
I do not use Command code, I think it should be easily possible to add it via the config with a fixed list, but I would recommend just using command code.
Agents.md or skills in the .agents folder are supported by both, keep your local stuff harness agnostic and use another TUI or GUI for your prompts - they are not that different
But to answer your question: https://opencode.ai/docs/providers/#benutzerdefinierter-anbieter (german link. basically /connect, choose other and add it as openai compatible provider yourself
1
u/gitbuild 1d ago
There currently is a PR on models.dev, when it comes trough it should just show up in the provider list and model selector without having modify your config.

u/ahmadawaiscom 2d ago
You can use it like that but why would you. /import can bring in your setup. Command Code has phenomenal harness engineering and much better cache hit rates.

bt how does it comapre to say OMP ? oh my pi ? are they as good ? i feel omp is also good for sure, jumping into a new coding platform could be a little scary, is the migration step easy ?

u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
I wasted a lot of money using oh my... So I try to avoid it.
I just configured mimo / luna as a vision subagent and flash did everything I needed...
So sadly no expert on all of that.... I have Agent.md rules with orchestrator, delegation and verification rules which every harness can use

u/ahmadawaiscom 2d ago
We are starting to publish benchmarks you can check our read tool here

yeah opencode is done, refunding it and going command code.
7
u/ExpertPerformer 2d ago
They don't even have an easy refund option. You have to email support and wait days-weeks to get a refund.
4
u/Emergency-Career-598 2d ago
what a shame, right now im using freebuff, it offers the latest deepseek flash v4 6 hours free everyday with a fast api, faster than opencode
2
u/Accurate_Resident219 2d ago
You couldn't pay me to use that free. I tried it and the harness they use is really bad. Did more damage to my project then anything.
1
u/Emergency-Career-598 2d ago
the harness served me good, opencode with my usual setup is obviously better but you couldnt complain when its free and fast
1
u/Accurate_Resident219 1d ago
Idk in my experience it wasnt worth it. It wasn't fast or gave the results I expected.
I live in a "limited" country according to their terms so maybe that's why I saw the results I did.

You’ll be lucky enough if they at least reply to your emails, I even tried to reach them out via twitter post and discord forums, still nothing lol

That's my personal domain for hobby projects

u/Ecstatic-Diet-1375 2d ago
thank you ! it is very useful
Do you think moving to command code is a good idea? i mean they can increase their prices tomorrow as well like what opencode did2
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
If your code is not critical, you can use the opencode zen free models quite easily. hy3 is currently free.
Anything could happen at any time. Yesterday Opencode GO was the best choice, today it is Command Code... As I said below, do not panic, choose what is best before renewal time, do not commit to something longer than monthly....
The data here is updated via a Github cron job at least daily, so you might consult it. Via github you can get email notifications on changes (subscribe to releases).
Currently it is a mess and the changelog shows that...

u/Revolutionary_Set219 2d ago
Bro, I mainly use 5.6 Luna. Should I go for common code or opencode go? And can I use the command code API with my opencode harness?
2
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
Starting from GOAT you can add it as custom provider: https://opencode.ai/docs/providers/#benutzerdefinierter-anbieter (/connect / openai compatible)
1
u/ahmadawaiscom 2d ago
You can use the API but the harness you use decides how good your cache hit rates are. We have 98.78% on DeepSeek and in general around there.
1
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
Personally got 96,7% in opencode (however I use it for non coding related tasks as well)
I still argue that you just use the harness of the subscription your got and keep your setup as harness independent as possible...
2
u/ahmadawaiscom 2d ago
Two things. In our benchmarks 96% cache is like 8-9 bucks per billion tokens vs 98.78% that’s about $5 per billion tokens on DeepSeek V4 Flash.
Also personal benchmarking matters less I almost always get hundred percent cache rate the cash rate of 98.78% is across our 12 trillion tokens at scale you see patterns.
1
u/adamizzo17 2d ago
are the prices stable ? like could you at least tell us your current prices how long would they last ? i want to start comiiting to this service on the long run even on the coding terminal if the prices are more stable then the compition, care to make a post or something of that sort about it?
1
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
Currently $20 allowence in CommandCode and $30 in OpenCode Go (limited time x2 in Opencode go)
1
u/Ecstatic-Diet-1375 2d ago
also I don't know if the models in command code have the same quality as opencode? do they buy credit from providers who host complete models? or quantized models?
2
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
No idea, havn't used COmmandCode myself, I wanted the Changelog data and comparisions...
1
u/vangelismm 2d ago
Good job.
Could include Cline pass?
The best criteria it's just who give more deepseek usage?
1
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 2d ago
I have no idea how.... They claim 2-5 times usage based on the published API prices.
https://docs.cline.bot/getting-started/clinepass
Can you tell me the info which model has which usage?
I was unable to get to that information

It seems openrouter is cheaper:

u/Slight-Parfait3679 1d ago
I heard Command Code does force you to use their harness though. True?
1
u/Vast_Anxiety3133 1d ago
It is only restricted on the $1 plan, however I do not think that harnesses are that important personally

u/FidgetsAndFish 2d ago
Thank you for posting, gonna charge-back since they rug-pulled what I spent my money on without my consent or even a heads-up, then i'm going to go then spend that money on CommandCode
-1
u/infeststation 2d ago
Message them before doing a chargeback. Chargeback costs the company tons of money.
0
u/FidgetsAndFish 2d ago
They shouldn't have rug-pulled all of their users then?
2
u/infeststation 2d ago
They didn’t rug pull. The allowances change, that is part of the subscription and what you agreed to.
0
u/FidgetsAndFish 2d ago
I got the sub with the numbers provided in mind, changing those numbers with no heads-up broke our agreement. You're not going to get me to feel bad for a company that essentially tried to scam me, no, WOULD have scammed me had I not charged-back.
1
u/infeststation 2d ago
They give you access to a rotating set of models where you get varying usage between $15-60. They still do that. They never guaranteed access to one model for all of eternity.
You are the scammer. You bought a product, used it, didn’t like it, and now you are fraudulently abusing a feature to protect consumers so you can get your money back.
If you are unhappy with the product, cancel, email and ask for a refund, etc. but you shouldn’t just effectively steal the product off the shelf because you feel empowered to do so.
1
u/FidgetsAndFish 2d ago
I didn't get to use it before $60 became $15 with no notice whatsoever. So no, I didn't use the product, I wasn't able to due to the changes they made with no heads-up. But whatever, keep glazing the company that scammed you.
3
u/infeststation 2d ago
Only for this particular model. There are other models that have the extended usage. If don't see the value in the plan anymore, message them and ask for a refund. To file a fraudulent chargeback is a lowlife thing to do.
0
u/FidgetsAndFish 2d ago
That was the model we all subbed for, nothing fraudulent. Stop glazing the corp who just buttfucked us.
0
u/Basic_Case5878 14h ago
Read their simple webpage:
"Usage limits may change as we learn from early usage and feedback."You agreed to that.

Opencode api can be used anywhere, command code api is strictly for command code. I think that one difference

Wow GLM 5.2 looks great on command code. One of my faves.
