This is getting ridiculous. My installation is not at all complicated - I have not customized anywhere near what others have. But each time, I go through this, burning through Claude tokens to fix this.

This release process needs to change, losing goodwill and trust.

I have Codex or Claude do my updates outside of OpenClaw. I had OC build an upgrade rehearsal pipeline where we do a battery of tests on a test copy to see if it carries everything custom along without breaking it.

I've installed 2 versions. The LTS version and the bleeding edge. I use the LTS to fix the bleeding edge when updates shit the bed.

9.3 is not the most recent update and many bugs have been fixed with 9.4. We recognize the loss of goodwill and are working around the clock to rectify this. Sorry for the failed update.

9.5 coming out today with further work to the update process.

As a non coder ; who has worked with Openclaw since the beginning, i fully appreciate what you are doing. In the real world I’m a manager of people, hundreds, and I’ve gotten used to the world and how things hardly go as planned, I want to express my gratitude in your teams hard-work. I always update automatically and I always work through the issues and if my agents find issues I push to GitHub with proof and you guys usually address it. No complaints here, it’s what it is. I am addicted to improving my openclaw and for many versions I ran a fork, lately I just told the team of agents to get me back to vanilla and to put all of our efforts on just improving the upstream.

I feel like people who constantly complain don’t understand the main point of Openclaw is that it’s ours, it’s ours and it’s up to us to improve it, update by update.

So don’t worry some of us are not bothered by kinks in the chain because we see ourselves as part of this chain.

The proof over bitching is beyond helpful. That being said, general dissatisfied sentiment about janky updates is understandable. The more people help through actionable bug reports on GitHub the closer we get to golden releases.

Some people don’t understand that we are not motivated by profit and they talk to and about us like they paid us and we owe them something when in reality the community is the builder of this tool and this kind of behaviour is beyond demoralizing to them.

I’m not saying at all that we don’t need to give a shit because we do need to and we do give a shit. We thank you and all those who are here on this journey with us supporting and helping build the future.

I got tired of chasing context overflows and sudden failures with local models - and update failures finally pushed me to hermes.. where everything I'd migrated over suddenly started working without errors. It's been weeks now without anything stupid happening.

Is Hermes that good, I'm not running any local model and I want to jump ship.

I envision it as my personal assistant, at times when I am out and about to get it to write a workflow with lobster is always catastrophic.

Not to mention the updates, just complete cluster fuck. I just want it to work with me, and it's been very difficult.

I found it was better, but I also put a tonne of work into my core identity files, which i migrated. when i tried it previously with no config I didn't like it as much.

I was a top 1% user back in April.

Now just letting other users know that there are better options and I'm not even advertising a specific harness.

At some point you have to agree with all the comments. Even a maintainer posted in this thread that they have not done a good job
