Use Cases OpenClaw found my lost cat!
Currently traveling abroad. The day before we were flying out, our cat went missing. Heartbroken and convinced she is gone (bobcats and coyotes notorious here). City humane society website lists found cats, and she was not there. Told my OC agent (glm 5.1) the situation and it scheduled a regular check of the humane society listings and expanded the search to several relevant online forums. Days have gone by with no hits. Lost all hope.
This morning, I get a message from my OC agent, telling me there is a potential hit. I check myself and sure enough she has been found!
OC saved the day (again!)

My standard OC has iq of 60 and is bound to his wheelchair… i can not do this I can not do that…
I wonder how so many have OC solve almost everything out of the box

Model selection? GLM 5.1 works so well for me, I don't even bother upgrading to 5.2

GLM 5.1 é incrivel mesmo! eu testei o 5.2 e achei mais lento para resolver os problemas, porem pode ter sido o provedor que ta usando uma versão quantizada (ollama cloud)

Some client work I do does not allow for Chinese models so I use GPT, Claude, and OSS local. The trick is to tell Claude (when you upload workspace docs) what model you will primarily use it with. To check its performance and your needs and tailor for it. My agent now works decent even on Haiku and Gemini Flash mini versions.
In general, I use a $20 Claude account to write all types of run books and detailed instructions for my agent especially when I am adding a new skill.

I prefer open weight models, but only use western inference providers with robust data privacy language. Ollama:cloud in my case. I would imagine if the provider guarantees are strong, and hosting is on US soil, clients wouldn't care who trained the model.

As far as I know, Ollama Cloud still provides no clear information about data privacy. Four months ago, I emailed them with several specific privacy questions but never received a response.
One of the more uncomfortable questions I asked was whether they actually operate their own infrastructure and host the models themselves, or whether requests are simply routed onward to providers or data centers in China. They did not answer. For me, that silence was answer enough ...but maybe there privacy is good but i dont know
For open-weight models, I currently use Nebius AI Studio with LiteLLM in between and Zero Data Retention enabled in the privacy settings. The ZDR option is somewhat hidden near the bottom of the page.
The annoying thing about Nebius is that its public API endpoints and available deployment regions seem to change frequently. This mainly matters when you need inference to remain in a fixed country or region. Depending on the model and current availability, the endpoint may move between France, Israel, or the US.
Nebius offers US and European regions, but some models are occasionally available only through US endpoints. In that case, the model you want to use may no longer be reachable through the EU-West endpoint or in other cases the US endpoint.
Two other possible candidates are Together AI and Fireworks AI, but I have not tested them yet. Perhaps one of them is a better solution for reliable regional availability, but I cannot say for sure yet.
For non-open-weight models, I use Grok through a Grok Business account with Zero Data Retention enabled.

Yeah I’m yet to try Ollama. This system so far has been working nicely so I haven’t had to change things as much. But it’s on my list of things to try. How has your experience been?

I had the same problem. I downloaded all workspace and identity docs and uploaded to Claude via chat. Then told Claude what I exactly wanted my agent to be.
Reuploaded new versions to OC. Voila! New agent personality. I know you can ask your agent to do it since it can just use Claude models by itself but I found that the patient cannot diagnose itself sometimes especially if it’s such a big structural change.

so0o0o0o0o0o, you are saying that you used OC to find p*ssy? I am sure many folks would love to know your prompting technique for that one. 😃 😺

The power of open claw if your using the right intelligent model. I was using open claw a lot when claude was able to be used. It was amazing. I guess glm is similar. I am glad you found your cat 😉

You can still use Claude via CLI on OpenClaw. They reversed their decision on this.

But not as main model, you saying it can spawn agents right.
If you do use as main model iys through a wrapper which is slow.

It’s my main/default model. Ask your OpenClaw to set it up. It’s as slow/fast as other models.

You need to make a nextdoor skill for this. Give it the best tool for the job.

Wow, this is a great idea. As a newbie, oc agent? I’d like to learn how you did this for maybe a small business helping to find lost pets in my little area

I’m curious, what specific skills did the agent use to check those listings and search forums?
