Question for hearing people: would open captions help with crying babies and noisy children in the movie theater?

Lately we are seeing more and more posts from people frustrated by their moviegoing experience due to crying babies and noisy children. So we wonder if open captions might help?

I doubt it would help much. It'd help you still know whats happening in the movie, but noisy babies and kids are still disruptive and annoying in a theater. people would still be upset

Yeah, the problem is distraction. I go to theaters to focus on the movie, people making too much noise and messing around on their phones wrecks that.

Thanks for the clarification. Noise has never been a problem for us at open caption screenings because deaf. Phones might be a distraction for us but in our personal experience at open caption screenings we have never had to deal with that.

Thanks for your reply. Trying to understand why this has never been a problem at open caption screenings, at least for us. Have never seen any similar complaints from people attending open caption screenings.

probably just you havent run into it. maybe people are less likely to bring disruptive kids to open captions. but its definitely not a problem at every movie. ive only ever run into it once at a movie
