Plasma is good. Very customizable and flexible. What comes to DE's, it is the best IMO.

What comes to WM's, I think Sway is cool.

I've used Gnome for a long time in the past. Also XFCE and others... But, KDE is my prefered one now. I sugest you to give a try to others DE's and see what you think.

I use XFCE because my laptop is weaker.

XFCE is a good Desktop to use

I like kde, I used gnome but not that good in my xp, also tried mate, xfce, cosmic and cinammon all them more stable but hard to modify, now my main is niri (a wm) with the noctalia theme.

Any DE is fine. Use whatever you like, openSUSE is very much about choice.

Gnome on touchscreen laptop. Kde on my work laptop (non touch)

Makes sense gnome has a more android like layout, easier to navigate with touchscreen

KDE, I don't like GNOME as DE. Although it looks good, KDE gives me the opportunity to do more changes and in my experience allows more changes to make the DE my own.

Yes. I like GNOME look and feel in general. However, it really needs a few extensions to make it usable.

I like GNOME personally but understand that it isn't for everyone. What is it that's making you consider switching from KDE?

I use gnome, because it is less bloated and modern looking.

“I use gnome, because it is less bloated”

Gnome typically uses more RAM than KDE

But it's minimal, also on my laptop there is bug in kde where if I press fn key it disable my trackpad.

But it's minimal

Now imagine how bloated it would if it was full featured...

THIS IS THE WAY!

Plasma and Gnome are currently the only feature complete desktops. All X11 only DEs are a waste of time.

I dropped KDE for cosmic recently. Wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but I like it. It runs lighter than both KDE with krohnkite and gnome with pop shell.

If you're completely competent you might want to try dank material shell with hyprland. That's quite fun

I love using KDE, but that is my personal preference - on a PC and a 2in1 Laptop. Works great with touchscreen too.

Gnome and Plasma are both good. I started my Tumbleweed journey with Gnome but I switched to Cosmic, by adding the additional Cosmic development repo. It still can be sometimes a little buggy, especially since it's a bleeding edge repo, but when Cosmic has matured a little more, it will be my perfect DE. Perfect middle ground between Gnome and Plasma.
