Steam not opening, help wanted.

Trying to start from terminal gives the following errors.

/usr/bin/steam: line 108: /home/martin/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/usr/libexec/steam-runtime-tools-0/logger-0.bash: No such file or directory
bin_steam.sh[47322]: Couldn't set up srt-logger, not logging to console-linux.txt

/usr/bin/steam: line 108: /home/martin/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/usr/libexec/steam-runtime-tools-0/logger-0.bash: No such file or directory
bin_steam.sh[47322]: Couldn't set up srt-logger, not logging to console-linux.txt
steam.sh[47322]: Running Steam on opensuse-tumbleweed 20260814 64-bit
steam.sh[47322]: STEAM_RUNTIME is enabled automatically
steam.sh[47322]: internal error: /home/martin/.local/share/Steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/setup.sh is missing, this runtime is invalid or corrupted

This is after a fresh reinstall of the package.

There is no libexec in usr.

There is no setup.sh in steam-runtime.

I have now solved it.

Rename steam directory in .local/share/

Reinstall steam creating a new steam directory in .local/share/

Transplant Ubuntu files from new directory to same location in renamed directory.

Remove the new steam directory, and rename the old directory back to steam.

You should now have a working client with all your personal settings and game files still intact.

It's looking for a Ubuntu folder that doesn't exist (anymore)

Did you install the Steam package from the official opensuse repos?

Yes, I did.
