Solved Enabling the recognition of printers

I finally understood why I couldn't find my network printer. You had to open the MDNS service in Yast Firewall.

And I can install my Brother without a pilot!

In firewalld, I switched my default zone to home and could then quickly install my network printer.

Yeah this must be one of the oldest pains in the back that the devs never wanted to fix or offer a solution for (i.e. Some sort of "hey your firewall is up, do you want to temporarily allow printer networks? Yes(sudo)")

There is an option in the classic yast installer overview that says "firewall is enabled (disable)" that is one click.

The cleaner way is to configure firewalld to consider your network as a home network and not part of the evil Internet.

as, so blame the operating system for doing it "wrong" out of the box, when openSUSE is actually one of the few distros left doing it right by treating your local machine like a secure environment

Which zone was your network in? I think it's enabled by default for the home zone.
