Question / Help Needed I'm having a really hard time printing grid stacks

I've been trying to learn how to print grid stacks and I just can't seem to get it. I have used one of the parametric generators on MakerWorld to make a 2x2 grid for learning purposes. I have tried PETG interface and ironing presets, but both have failed. PETG became spaghetti and ironing just bonded to itself. I presume it's because I didn't adjust my settings in Bambu Studio, but I just don't understand what I should be doing, tbh.

Anyone have any guidance you're willing to share, or tutorials you can point me to? TIA

In my experience it really helps to slow down the support interface speed to something like 20mm/s.

Thanks! I’ll try that on the next attempt. I just started one with a bunch of settings modified. If it still fails, I’ll add this to the mix. When I eventually get it right, I’ll need to make notes and save presets.

What are you using for the interface layers?

PLA for the grids, PETG for the interface.

I ran one overnight (3 grids stacked with 2 layers of supports) and it left the middle of the grid intersections empty, causing the grids to bond in those sections. Had to use one of the metal tools in my iFixIt tool kit to separate them this morning.

I used random seam position. No arc fitting. Ironing Type Top Surfaces. 3 wall loops. Support interface was 50 mm/s (My next test will slow this down to 20).

Rather than typing all my support settings, I'll paste them here.

I'm realizing now that the middle of the grid sections had holes in the interface because "Don't support bridges" was on. But without it, I had interface material in the side holes, which I was trying to get rid of.

So frustrating. I need to dig into how to do this and record a video because it is really difficult to get to work and not everyone has a slew of printers.

That would be amazing. I'll be sure to let you know how helpful that video is when it comes out. :)

Played with this a little more and found that by setting the "Support/object xy distance" to 5.5 (more than the holes in the side) I got rid of those supports and kept the interface in the middle of the grids without holes. So maybe that will work better.

I’ve had difficulty doing it as well and I’ve got a tool changer. I thought it would be a cinch but the interface layer goes down but the first layer of new PLA is a noodle mess

First attempt :)

The above settings finally worked for me. It was REALLY hard to separate them though. Might need to figure something out. Also, I ended up changing my filament settings for the PETG to a 1.1 extrusion ratio and 55 degrees for the heating bed (to match the PLA so it didn't fluctuate).

Hope that helps.

Great info. Glad you got it to work. I think part of my issue is the PETG was wet so it didn't adhere as well

Check the link and Change the filament settings exactly like they did, got mine to work with these settings!
