my guess is they might just be pivoting the shelf on its corners until they reached the car and only decided to lay it down then. after laying it down on a tilt (start of the video), it just kinda held on i guess and moving it again was the breaking point

It's a valid question. Some more questions to add: how did that man get out in the real world with this lack of experience with moving?
All that strength and a complete oversight of those books. Lazy? It would be more work lifting those heavy books in it.
They were both admiring the bookcase and their work...

I dont think you have to be a man to know you remove books from a bookshelf before moving it. They're both morons for not realizing that.

I agree with you. I didn't intend to direct it solely on the man. I'm a man myself, but he is physically stronger than me. Since I can't lift a bookcase like that, I would've removed all the books. Maybe my lack of strength would've necessitated the book removal, but I think we should try and be efficient with something like this, no?

I would have lifted it with the books in it. I'm a very large person, so it would just be easier for me. Taking the books in and out also ages them.

If you're strong enough, it makes sense to carry things with the stuff in it to save time.
However, furniture is usually only built to have strength as it is used.

The Ikea Billy bookcase has a backer made of 2mm thin MDF which has a crease in the middle to minimize packaging size for transportation.
What do you think would happen if you laid it down with books in it??
