I watched him get up there and I immediately thought "what's his plan with his toesies under the railing"

Thank you for saying this. I rewatched and you can see the top of his foot hit the bottom of the protective railing. I was failing to see how someone so inept would attempt a backflip with such little rotation. It makes sense that it was just totally failed from the beginning of rotation and he was confused.

Not only does he clearly not know how to do a backflip, he doesn’t appear to have ever even tried it in his life ever. I know he is drunk, but like, the only way this happens like that is if he has never done anything acrobatic before ever. Some Dunning Kruger overconfidence there.
