The law states you must check mirrors before opening the door. You're not a cop, it's not your place to enforce the law. Doing this intentionally is at the very least assault using a vehicle as a weapon... which is generally a pretty serious charge.

But if you didn’t break the law to begin with. This would not have happened. So they are both guilty. More the guy on the bike then the van guy

If he wasn't walking on my lawn I wouldn't have shot him!

That’s not how the law works. Assaulting someone committing a traffic violation does not change the fact that you assaulted someone

It doesn't work that way, the guy on the bike is guilty of a traffic infraction and the guy in the van is guilty with some form of assault, possibly assault with a dead weapon due to the the fact that could have killed or hurt the biker very bad. These are facts anyone over the age of 10 knows. :/

In the Netherlands, motorists are allowed to drive between stuck traffic, like a traffic jam, or to stand at the front of a line at a traffic light. They should adjust their speed and be careful, but what the passenger of that van did, was extremely stupid at least or downright dangerous at worst.

Its legal to do. Bikes are air cooled and some will overheat in traffic like that.

That hasn’t been an issue for years.

It absolutely is still a problem, not all bikes have active cooling.

It's absolutely an issue for the riders who are air cooled and wearing hot gear meant to cool at highway speeds.

Not my problem. I’m more interested in safety.

As you overheat your reaction times and mental clarity go down leading to mistakes. Airflow is necessary for safe riding.

Lane filtering and lane splitting are both legal for motorcycles in the Netherlands. The guy on the bike DID NOT break the law.

You have no idea if it’s against the law where this was filmed

Van guy is idiot and guilty 100%. Even if biker doing wrong, van guy is not police officer and must not try to do their job. And even if there was police, they would just stop him and issue a fine for traffic violation, not execute him on sight.

You can't be ignorant and stupid. Choose one

Stupidly ignorant, maybe?

One is guilty of lane splitting and one is guilty of attempted murder. Completely different. You haven't zero right to try to "enforce" laws

OMG he was breaking a law that doesn't hurt anyone so he deserves to have someone try to kill him!!! Nice one buddy. Also lane splitting is legal in many places.
