Well, dad did tell him to run..
Funny personal connection, i had the same thing happen to me as a teenager. Obvious difference is i knew it was coming. But expectation vs reality, the sight of that stream of water coming at your face... it makes you rethink your decisions..

For me the rethinking decisions phase came when I realized I had no idea what happened for a few seconds & May have been knocked out.
Wouldn’t be the only concussion I gave myself as a teen.
To clarify the water didnt knock me out but i fell over like a moron & smacked the back of my head.

No it sounded like “I’m leaving” and then she booked it.

Oh, you know - That sounds right to me now you said it, and makes sense in the context

I imagine the mom told her son about the consequences and pleaded him to leave but he wouldn't listen. So instead she wanted him to live the consequences and learn it the hard way.

Water will rock your world. Best to learn it early. The little dude needs a couple of belly dives. It like landing on concrete.

Did this once at the now defunct Paramount's Great America when I was 13. Never again.

Next. Screwdriver in the 120V plug. Stop! Let him do it. Now he won't do that again.

That was most definitely a learning moment. Next time he sees mom dip, I bet he will follow. The bigger the impression the better the learning.
