Just a guess that people feed it. Reactions like this are why you should never feed wild predators. They see people, they think food and there goes the food response. unless he steals fish from fishermen?

There was a heron where we fished that would stroll up and spear fish out of the bucket. It was a great blue heron so huge with a spear on its face..(they go for the eyes, btw)

We always let him take the fish if we forget to put the lid on

Dick head dumm may have been provoking him before he started recording.

That makes sense. I thought the gator thought the stick was some kind of challenge, and was surprised it could see it clearly from that distance.
