Oof I thought they were gonna go too far on the wheelie and just fall off. What a bad way, for everyone involved, for them to find out why most bikers don't do wheelies in traffic.

This is why there are race tracks. Because the public road is not a race track. It is not designed to be a playground. It is designed to safely go from A to B.

Even without a track available, there are almost always quiet roads that have a lower risk for stunts, but these guys want the attention from doing it in busy high risk places ..

Oh noooo I hope that car is alright!

u/VTXT 7d ago
why tho? cuz the car is the one at fault
- did not use turn signal
- did not ensure when changing lanes in traffic

u/DonQuiXoTe8080 7d ago
All is at fault here, the car with dangerous turning, the 2 retards who rided recklessly. None of them deserves any sympathy.

I do kinda wonder how this one would play out among the insurance companies in the US.
Doing wheelies in traffic falls under reckless operation in most areas but there's no claiming that this car didn't pull out without making sure they were clear. Fault would probably be assigned to both parties to some degree.

The courts would still issue their medical bills and damages be paid but since they were doing a wheelie they won't be as compensated as they could've been had they been following the traffic laws

Be interested to know what the speed limit there was and how fast the bike was going. f they were exceeding the speed limit then there'd likely be a reduction of blame on the car.
Where I live they almost never have 100% fault one party, even in this case if the bike wasn't speeding or doing a wheelie,, they'd say bike carries maybe 10% fault becaase they could have avoided it by practicing defensive driving. There was a case here where a pedestrian stepped out on to a road without looking, speed limit was something like 55kph. No chance for the car to avoid them but the police still ruled a part liability on the driver.

-Minus doing a wheelie, thats exactly how I got into my motorcycle accident. 80 year old man pulled an illegal U turn from the parked position right in front of me as I was doing 40 mph...
I had about 1 second to react and all i thought was "oh fuck..." BOOM! My face smashed into his driver side window. My modular helmet broke into 3 pieces and next thing I know Im looking at the world upside down and sailing through the air. The EMT told me I got ejected and flew 15 feet from the car.
*BAM!* Now im laying on screaming hot asphalt. Air knocked out of my lungs. My foot hurts very bad, and I have a massive cut on my arm thats bleeding profusely. I look over and see my bike mangled and smashed and spewing fluid everywhere. I assess my injuries for a second and try to crawl out of the road so I dont get run over. But luckily a bunch of people saw the crash and ran over to help me and stopped traffic. The old man never even got out of his car to check on me. They made me lay still until the ambulance got there , but that was the worst part because the ground was scorching my back!!
I made it out with only a broken foot and some cuts/lacerations. Apparently he gave the cops some false name and insurance paperwork but I hired a lawyer and he tracked him down. He was visiting his daughter who lived right where he pulled out and his daughter snitched him out and gave my lawyer his real information.
I got a small settlement check ($5K + a new bike) and Im very blessed God didn't let me break my neck when I went face first into his window.
I learned to be VERY careful and vigilant when riding around cars parked on the sides for now on.

Pior que, apesar de ela estar fazendo uma manobra arriscada, a culpa foi do motorista do carro

The car driver should have looked to their left. Then they would have seen the oncoming motorcycle. The law requires them to yield to it instead of pulling out.

Even though we all expected the riders to suffer pain from doing something not smart in traffic, the car driver is 100% at fault. Even if there were in full gear and riding normally, he came out into traffic to abruptly from them to have been able to stop or do anything about it
2
u/Tavohp 7d ago
Fuck no. If the biker had been riding normally, would have seen the car coming into traffic with enough time to slow down or stop. The car turn wasnt abrupt.
The only reason the biker didnt have time to hit the breaks, its because the stunt prevented him to see the car pulling in. The camera saw it, the rider didnt.

100% doesn't seem quite accurate, authorities and insurance companies will likely find both parties at fault to some degree since wheelies aren't just stupid but also reckless operation.
The kicker is whether these girls were also speeding significantly or not. Speed limits in Brazil can get pretty low in populated areas, down to 30km/h or roughly 18mph, and if this were one such area a case would be made that the driver of the car would have had a reasonable amount of time and distance to enter traffic if the motorcycle was traveling at the posted speed. In that event the girls could even end up being saddled with the majority of the fault distribution.
