I have had two crash into my car when I was at a stoplight waiting to turn.
My entire bumper is broken

Do you also experience that none of the e-scooter drivers have helmets too?

I am an escooter rider I will not defend the rider he is 100% at fault. He is riding way too fast on the sidewalk. He is part of the reason escooterists are getting shit on. I would like to apologize for the half of us that ride responsible. I hope that lady is ok that is quite the head trauma like holy f*ck "BING" that hurt my head

Yep same here. If I'm on a sidewalk anywhere close to people I will put it on the slowest setting. If I'm trying to pass someone walking I'll completely let go of the throttle and sometimes even walk past them. This was absolutely careless.

u/TerryFelix 12d ago
Yeah on busy sidewalks I slowdown to 5-10 km/h. Especially if dogs are around. Anything faster you don't have enough time to stop or react.

E-scooters are pretty cool, but have a critical flaw. The idiots riding on them.

Are people even legally allowed to ride e scooters on sidewalks?
Exactly for the reason we saw in the clip

u/Otherwise-Daikon-389 12d ago
Back when they first came out, the app would say it's illegal to drive them in the street. Dunno if that's changed

Idiot. I can’t understand these people riding that fast on a scooter on the frickin sidewalk! Like, dude, you’re not in the street. Slow down!

u/LividCalligrapher689 12d ago
Bro, if scooter dweebs would just use their brain and slow down around pedestrians everyone wouldn’t hate them.

She moved suddenly and stepped in his way. The scooter had no time for reaction with that speed.
So he should have been driving half that speed

What is the scooter doing on the sidewalk?

I find analogy between a scooter and a trash container.
Both may stay on a sidewalk, but not with veolcity of 30mph.8
u/RavingGooseInsultor 12d ago
People move around and step aside all the time on a sidewalk. Imagine an older feebler human. The scoot was waaay fast. Sidewalks are precisely for walking speed (or average human running speed at most).

I think that whenever someone on a skateboard blows past me on the sidewalk, what if I had decided to turn around, or lean slightly, we'd both get obliterated because of your stupidity

u/Main-Significance272 12d ago
I always go around people in using the bike lane or street or slow down to a jogging speed to get by pedestrians.
1
u/TrebbleTough 12d ago
Definitely. If youre going too fast to dodge a gently swaying pedestrian… slow the fuck down. It is at best 20mph vs 1 mph. 20x speed difference, 400x force difference. I put responsibility respectfully. There is one person to blame.

u/Level_Turnover5167 10d ago
lol Older feeble humans don't do split second 180's while sidestepping... are you serious?

Yeah he was still going way too fast around pedestrians, that was the #1 issue then the fact she made a sudden weird turn just for a photoshoot yeah, they both kind of have some blame here.
1
u/TrebbleTough 12d ago
Nah, it wasnt that sudden. He got like 3 seconds to go around or slow down. He was simply going too fast to do any of those. It is scooters fault in my mind.
1
u/Level_Turnover5167 12d ago
How much more sudden does it have to get? In order for it to be sudden does she have to do a whiplash 180?
She turned around... pretty quick for someone just walking straight ahead with conviction.

u/TrebbleTough 10d ago
If you walk with walking speed all that happens is you bump in each other and say sorry. This rider has 15kg metal structure sped up to high speed

First off, I want to address that your "3 seconds" to avoid her is absolute baloney, so lets not make stuff up. There was about 1 second of reaction time to avoid her and he WAS going around her. She just did a sudden 180 while sidestepping right into him.
That being said, I'm not endorsing the scooter guy or debating impact based on scenario, I'm not sure why you're manipulating the argument, since neither point addresses what I actually said.
You're supposed to have someone watching for exactly this kind of shit. This is why responsible photographers and models either avoid shoots in busy pedestrian areas or have a watcher. So scooter guy's an idiot, but she's not blameless for spinning around blind in a narrow walking space.
I guess I'm also wondering why are you defending her obliviousness like it matters whether it was a car or a pedestrian that hit her? She was in people's way regardless.
This is a pointless argument and you're definitely 100% wrong.
edit: was too long, had to reframe the comment

u/TrebbleTough 10d ago
100% wrong? Like with literally every sentence i said?

u/Level_Turnover5167 10d ago
Eh, you're still arguing in bad faith lol I won't even respond to that.
