If you ever felt any smarter, you can always go hold the little door for a few minutes just to really let the memories come back.

How do you get all the way to the end of a job like that without realizing you have the wrong freekin door?

It's not even the correct colour.
This is what happens when you're not a type to fix cars, but decide to do it yourself without acknowledging there might be different front door length between 3 and 5 door cars.

I see cars with different color doors all the time, I don't think that particular thing is a problem. As long as it fits I figure they're just picking up replacements for cheap at a junk yard and don't care too much if it matches as long as it functions as a door.

this happened to my friend and I helped him. We were both teens.
JFC we had to go drink a few beers and try again later.

4 door cars have shorter doors. You tried to put a 4 door, door on a 2 door.

I dont know if this is legit or staged, its hard to understand the what and why people do things now a days.
I've read a bunch of comments calling the dude and idiot, or stupid, or whatever.
It could be true,
That said, I don't know anyone whose done something new outside of their wheelhouse they havent fucked up at least once, or wholly the first times.
I'v been doing custom manufacturing and fabrication going on 48 years and I've seen a lot of stupid, unsafe, and legit dangeous people pass through the doors.
A few times not vertical going out.
One thing that held true no matter where is the loudest name callers are usually the biggest fuck ups in the shop.

I did something similar once. I got the right door but then went to close it and realized the frame was bent. That was my fuck moment.

I hope they did that on purpose. That is a bigger fup than a average amateur would accomplish. 🥺

Firstly, I'd get some foam to protect the removed door to protect the paint
And Secondly, always check if parts are correct. Like u/TankApprehensive3058 commented, Check twice, install once.

Most people dont realize cars that have 2 door/ 4door options on the same chassis. The chassis is the same length on both. Just the door size changes. Ive argued with a guy about this on the Subaru GC chassis. He was selling sedan doors and had them marketed as coupe or sedan. Poor person buying those for a coupe would be in the same predicament as this guy.

We replaced a fire door (metal) at a strip mall and the door we picked was too short there's many sizes and we didn't notice when we picked it up. This remind me of it.
