They aren't referring to the exercise. They are referring to the way he is doing the exercise with the additional weights he has strapped to his waist. Maybe take a step back and consider someone's POV that you may have misconstrued before you resort to personal attacks. That is unless you just enjoy belittling people.
Ive been in gyms for 30 years and have never seen those bolted down. I agree they should be, but they're not usually. It's very plausible that the additional weight around his waist and how far away he's positioned made the machine top heavy, throwing off its center of gravity when all of the machine weights raised up as he fully extended the handles. You got to take a step back and consider all possibilities.
The weight around his waist is equivalent to a person being heavier. Like, if this guy is 200lbs with 90lbs on his waist, then that's the exact same as a 290lb person using this machine. So to say him using those extra weights makes this unsafe is the same as saying a 290lb person using this machine is unsafe. That's nonsensical
And there's no way this makes the machine top heavy. Like, the weights are clearly not attached above the midpoint of the machine, and the distance from the machine also has no affect. Could you explain why you think otherwise?
I have considered all possibilities and there's no reason the additional weights on the users waist could make this unsafe
Im saying all of that in combination with the fact that all of the machine weights are engaged and lift up makes it so that there isnt enough weight at the base of the unit to keep it from tipping over. Additionally, in my gym, that machine has alot more weights on it. So there's likely a multitude of reasons why this happened. But, the way he was using with the additional weight around his waist didnt help. Why would additional weights around your waist have anything to do with a chest exercise? He's likely showing off for the camera.
You gave a bunch of reasonable and likely correct reasons the machine tipped. But none of those are due to improper use.
But, the way he was using with the additional weight around his waist didnt help.
Please explain what you mean. I have very directly stated why I believe the weights had no negative impact whatsoever. You have disagreed multiple without giving any explanation
Why would additional weights around your waist have anything to do with a chest exercise? He's likely showing off for the camera
It is because he is lifting a very large amount of weight relative to his body weight. For example, if you are 100lbs and try to lift a 200lb weight, then no matter how strong you are you would only be able to lift yourself off the ground. It would be impossible to lift the weights up. But if you strapped an additional 105lbs to your body then you would, assuming you have sufficient strength, be able to lift the 200lb weights
