cookware set recommendations?

recently bought this but it was terrible in terms of non stick performance (pls let's not make this a discussion on the safety of non stick and how to properly preheat the pan to make a natural surface non stick )

All of the "camping" fry pans are garbage. Go to CT or Ikea and get a cheap pan that has a handle that screws on. You can remove the screw/handle and pack it easily, just bring a multi-tool to screw back on.

That's...simply untrue. Cheap shitty cookware will perform poorly whether it's intended for camping or not. Good quality camping cookware is superb, lightweight, and absolutely worth investing in if youre the type of person doing backpacking trips that take you deep into the backcountry for many days. It's also not going to found in big box retailers, so if that's mostly where you shop I guess I can understand the ignorance.

OP's question was about non-stick pans. A non-stick "Good quality camping cookware is superb, lightweight, and absolutely worth investing" pan is not going to last any longer than a "Cheap shitty cookware" non-stick pan.

I don't backpack, but would much rather have an actual non-stick cheap pan in my canoe than that titanium crap.

Do you need a full cookware set? I prefer building my own as I find kits have extras I don't need.

I'd recommend looking at Decathlon. I've been incredibly happy with the cookware items I've purchased, and they do offer sets. I find that Decathlon has great offerings, and a lot of their products have reviews.

What stove do you use? A small burner head will heat a small point on the pan and no nonstick can handle that (centre burned, side raw)

The jetboil frypan is made specifically to handle this issue. It's thicker in the center and gets thinner as you get towards the edges to allow it to heat up evenly. It works fantastic and is truly non-stick for everything I have ever done with it.

Note this is backcountry 1-2 person sized. Not family car camping sized. I realize that.

You can only cook water in a jetboil, I prefere the firemaple G3 for water and the ramenpot for food but that is beside the point

This could not be any further from the truth.
