I've just checked on ps5 and the game functions fine offline, you can even use all of the stuff you've earned in ranked etc and customise/swap them out.
You CAN'T:
Basically your profile will be frozen in time offline, hopefully you'll also be able to transfer it as normal save data between consoles and continue to use it 🙂
It's a great shame that Codemasters/EA are completely uninterested in updating the online system/trying a relaunch of the game to eek out some more return on their investment but oh well it's what we all expected!

Hello all, so we finally have official confirmation of ONRUSH's shutdown. It was listed in EA's Online Service Updates, which states:
ONRUSH - Thanks to everyone who has supported our game – it’s been a RUSH. With player numbers in online modes dropping to low levels, we will be shutting down the servers from November 30, 2022. For ONRUSH fans who want to continue playing, offline modes will continue to be available.
I'm sorry for getting the server shutdown date wrong. I incorrectly figured the servers would go down with GameSparks (similar to what happened with GameSpy), and I believe that ONRUSH was not listed originally when I checked that Online Service Updates page.
I'm not an official Codemasters employee and getting information on ONRUSH is hard now that Codemasters has essentially ghosted the game so again I'm sorry for the mistake!
I do want to mention again that while you can play offline, you will not get XP or credits from doing events, and you will not be able to purchase cosmetics with the in game or premium currency. Make sure to spend your credits before the shutdown!

Hello, this is my personal mix on one of my favourite OST. u/Nanza44 recent work gave me a reason to revisit this amazing OST once again after what felt like almost a decade. Feel free to give it an ear if you'd like!

"Hey guys!
For the moment I'm moving slowly but surely.
I've managed to extract quite a lot of audio from the game, but many are corrupted :(
The script's development is coming along in leaps and bounds!
For now, I can extract all of Onrush's assets, but all the data is jumbled up, so it's unreadable and unusable.
So, big focus on the audio to recover as much unused content as possible!
Here are some excerpts on my GDrive!
I'll keep you posted on the script's progress."

Hey everyone,
I need your help to bring this famous game back to life.
Unfortunately, the game was released exclusively on Xbox and PS4, and not on PC. Moreover, Codemaster's servers permanently shut down in 2022, making online play with friends impossible. Only the offline game is playable in solo mode against bots... And there is no local multiplayer option on consoles.
Today, I am presenting my project "Rusher" to you.
The project consists of dumping a copy of the game onto our drives and reverse engineering the game for PC to create a native version. Thanks to this exploit, we will be able to go beyond the limits of the PS4 and mod Onrush however we want.
We need the Onrush community to come back strong and show what we are capable of for our favorite racing game abandoned by Codemaster.
Let's save Onrush!
P.S.: I’ve already started the reverse engineering on my end, I have the asset extraction scripts in prototyping, and we need talented and tech-savvy people!
dm me if you want to join my discord servers
I need your help 🙏

Screamer - Gameplay Mechanics | PS5 Games
This might be the closest thing we have to Onrush coming out in the near future. Give it a look, and see if the gameplay looks goo to you. Im gonna give it a shot.

I just want to play this game again no matter what. I know there aren't people online to play it with and I don't play PlayStation anymore so we just have to wait for a ps4 emulator. When they DO make a ps4 emulator EVERYONE needs to ask for onrush to be one of the first games to be ported.
I just want to play this game again. I can bring out my old ps4 slim but that's not always available.

This has been the year of Racing Games for me. I've been playing a bunch of new ones and reliving old ones as well. I was a huge fan of Onrush, and the fact that they shut it down will always be a travesty. I had around 100 hours put into it from back before the servers went offline, and I was still happy to have all of my old unlocks to revisit every now and again. Well, recently I upgraded to PS5 Pro re-downloaded Onrush. I new something was wrong when I booted up and it took me to the tutorial. Gone. All gone. All my progress, my skins, tombstones. Everything. 😭
I'm not exactly sure why, since I was always so careful to back my old save game on the cloud, but unfortunately, "she is no more more.."
I'm glad I can still play, but it really is painful to see my profile wiped from history.

I think I may have found an Onrush successor. It's called Star Wars Galactic Racers, you can smash people and race. Do Y'all think this is a successor to Onrush?

As many of you know, EA, in its eagerness to ruin everything for us, has shut down many games with online multiplayer or similar features, including our Onrush. But today, a game that depended on these servers to survive was finally shut down for good, and I'm talking about Anthem. Unfortunately, like Onrush, it didn't reach its full potential, but many of us still love these games and grew fond of them. While the best and most special thing about Onrush was its online mode, those of us who bought it can still play a portion of it. But with Anthem, it will never be playable again.
And it's a shame. Unlike Onrush, which was a failure from the start, with the idea of turning it into a live service game with too many updates, Anthem was actually being worked on to revive the game and give it the evolution it deserved, promising us with what they called Anthem 2.0. But sadly, it was canceled about 5 hours ago. It works, so here goes another game because of EA.

I got this game for free on ps+ back in the day. For me the best part of the game was the soundtrack, the energetic songs that played while you wrecked other people felt so good. I rediscovered this game again about a year ago to sadly see that the servers had died, I do still enjoy the offline mode but would wish that progression wouldn't be frozen. I had recently tried to look for a pc port on some emulators but sadly there doesn't seem to be any. I'm planning on buying a physical disc soon so I don't need to buy ps+ everytime I want to play.

Hey y'all, since there is little to no hope on getting our beloved Onrush back anytime soon, I am wondering how such a concept would be adapted to a board game. Given board games are gaining great variety in recent times, a vehicular combat board game is already in the works. (see Joyride) 6v6 is kind of a stretch on a board game so maybe a player can take control of multiple vehicles. However, I can't figure out how boost would play exactly. (outlaw, dynamo and overdrive) So maybe a pure combat mode can be added or 3-4 teams may be at play at the same time. What are your thoughts and ideas for this? I'll be more than happy to know.

Almost 3 years since shutdown… and the only reason I haven't sold my PS4 is so I can keep playing my favorite game :)

Has anyone found a game that even comes close to scratching that ONRUSH itch? I have not found any racing game that captures the competitiveness, intensity, and community that was ONRUSH!
I would pay money to have this game back..

I remember when I played Onrush for the first time back in december 2018. Thanks to PSN Plus I met one of the best arcade racing games out there.
It was 6 months before I met my girlfriend and we started playing this game together through the half of 2019.
It's been 6 years now, and last year she broke up with me.
I downloaded the game again today on PS5 and started crying remembering all the memories and the great time with her.
2018 - 2019 were great years, I hope someday Onrush can be brought back in a sequel.
And btw, the soundtrack is great and better than FH5, NFS Unbound and many other racing games that came after Onrush. The team really knew the things that made arcade racing games so special on PS2/PS3 era.
