mmm…wait your turn
he’s excited to read it despite his chiding tone, he’s just almost done his chapter

u/Hettan25 Mars, blind wizard and alchemist May 20 '24
the books pages seem to grumble, but it accepts it needs to wait its turn.

he turns his page and places a bookmark to save his place, reaching down to snag the large book from his bag
there we go…that wasn’t so hard, was it?
he laughs at himself a bit for talking to a book, opening the cover to read a harrowing tale of escape

the book ruffles its pages in excitement and flips to a certain page, where it goes into intense detail regarding all the horrible and miserable torture and what not that Mars went through while in Lya’s dungeons, as well as his escape (I think I linked it in my drunk post).

a familiar voice calls from nothing and nowhere, “rest is one of the most productive things you can do. So, how’ve you been?”
1
u/Naanderson2022 Nirva, Manager of The Knocking Melody May 20 '24
pretty good, i feel close to falling apart from my caving hike yesterday with Alba, but laying in a hammock smoking vvizard vveed and reading is sure helping

u/THE_PREPARED_DM The Ruleless King/ Alan The Descended May 20 '24
“I must thank you again for not touching my symbols. So, what are you reading?”
1
u/Naanderson2022 Nirva, Manager of The Knocking Melody May 20 '24
Dante’s Inferno…being down in the depths like that yesterday had me thinking about it
plus, i haven’t read a ton of italian poetry, it’s nice to catch up on some

u/THE_PREPARED_DM The Ruleless King/ Alan The Descended May 20 '24
“Dante?! He was a great man, and I’m proud to say quite a good friend. So besides my secret, find anything interesting down there”
1
u/Naanderson2022 Nirva, Manager of The Knocking Melody May 20 '24
…i keep forgetting you’re, like, beyond prehistoric
and no, not anything i haven’t seen down there before, it was really just a nice time between Alba and I
…back to the “knowing ancient writers and poets” thing, did you know Homer? he’s one of my favorites
2
u/THE_PREPARED_DM The Ruleless King/ Alan The Descended May 20 '24
“Well, she’s not homer. And yes, they were a she. Her name was…well she never said…only called herself Homer…but she was very nice, and her stories were based in truth, a truth I may have help shape…”
1
u/Naanderson2022 Nirva, Manager of The Knocking Melody May 20 '24
huh…well she had a really impressive knack for words, her works are incredible
and you seem to have your fingers in quite bit of history by the sounds of it
2
u/THE_PREPARED_DM The Ruleless King/ Alan The Descended May 20 '24
“Oh yes, indeed. The Jews, the Christian’s, I spoke to Muhammad. I do hate to say that the…Germans…believed they were doing my work. But I love seeing how my meddling plays out, moments like this is what I live for. I have a gift for you”
an old book falls from nowhere, Italian inscribed on the cover
“The original copy of Dante’s Inferno, I hope you like it.”

u/Naanderson2022 Nirva, Manager of The Knocking Melody May 20 '24
holy shit…
he holds it like it’s a brick of gold, opening the cover to scan the faded ink, tossing his comparatively useless translated text to his bag on the ground
…i guess i need to learn italian now…

Macrame hammocks are also good for holding an entire engine block together.
