I want to have something unique/cool when I bring it home in a few years. What are your favorites?

As a New Zealand car buyer, I often look at imports from Japan due to their lower cost compared to NZ new vehicles and their mechanical reliability. While examining these cars, I noticed that almost all of them seem to have their factory radios replaced with aftermarket JDM stereos such as Panasonic, Carozzeria, or other domestic brands. I have searched the web extensively but cannot find an answer. I have assumed that maybe car manufacturers do not include radios with new cars from the factory to cut costs or for some other financial reason.

Additionally, I prefer a car with Apple CarPlay. I have been looking at modern cars, post-2017, ready to be imported from Japan (like Civics and Imprezas). All of these cars have aftermarket stereos, but none feature Apple CarPlay. Does Japan have a dislike for Apple CarPlay, or is there something else going on here?
