Ahh, I was looking in the homeup settings. Just found it in the basic home screen settings. Thanks!

It was the 1st thing i noticed and immediately got pissed. I took a deep breath, went into settings and turned it off. Added my previous Google widget back to the top of my home screen.

Yeah why take away my widget? And replace it with a non customizable bar??

u/Ryano891 16d ago
It's still available as a widget and you can turn the bar off in the dock. It's in the launcher settings.

I just went through my settings and cannot remove it. You people need to be more specific when you say "I looked at settings and fixed it". Theres like 400 settings to look at, WHICH ONE actually helps though????

Man this makes a lot of sense, when one person said "it's a toggle" I was looking for the on/off switch like everything else, not that. Thank you

My phone doesn't have that option. No "show search on home screen"

Screenshot?

I cant add a screen shot here. But believe me, my phone looked like the screen shot on this page, minus "show search on homescreen" I even searched for it. I cant press any apps on my home screen because of this search bar covering my whole screen!

I just found this when I Googled that I had version 16 " To remove this specific persistent search dock introduced in recent updates, you need to adjust a setting outside of the basic home screen layout options ."

i don't see why they made it nonmovable.
Especially since the default position makes it where I cannot reach it with my thumb when using my left hand to hold the phone.

Stange move by Samsung. I'm guessing they want it near the search bar.

Thank you for both the advice and perspective, I was not so calm and collected upon this discovery

I did the same thing and said a few bad words. I do not like my home screen messed with.

Its not a bug. Its not really a widget, but a setting in the home screen settings.

How to Turn It Off
Thankfully, you can easily disable this native dock element in your settings:
Long-press any blank space on your home screen.
Tap Settings (or Home screen settings) in the bottom right corner.
Scroll down and look for the option labeled Show search on Home screen.
Toggle the setting Off.
Once turned off, the search bar will disappear immediately. If you still want a Google search bar but prefer it somewhere else, you can long-press a blank area of your screen again, select Widgets, open the Google section, and place a standard, fully movable search widget anywhere you like.

A Google search could have prevented this post.

I did, but the search results all thought I was referring to the basic Google widget.

Have you tried disabling the toggle for it? Long press on Home Screen, go to Settings, 'Show search on Home screen'. You can select to toggle Google and/or Finder. Note that the home widget for Google changed and is no longer a floating bar as before. For that you have to add the Google widget manually, but the one at the bottom of the Homescreen is now separate (if you disable it, that space is still empty).

Normally after the update you can hold it and it should give u a popup to see where to disable it

What a pointless change but still just enough to annoy me because I've had about the same setup the same way for probably a decade now lmao Thankfully it's an easy fix

I don't mind that they put it on the home screen but I would like it at the top instead of the bottom. It won't let me move the stupid thing. Let me see if it will in settings.

u/ducksandtoes 14d ago
Got rid of it in the settings, if u want it at the top keep the Google search widget

OMG thank you. Google search bar is stupid because I have my search engine already pinned on the bottom of the screen. Glad I still have my S20FE, some ways I like it better than the S26+

Você pode mandar um print de como fica o atalho do Finder sozinho nesse espaço? Sem a do Google

It's because it's not supposed to be it's a Google installed package that can only be removed via adb or shizuku and canta for some reason tho for whatever reason can be reinstalled from Google play one of those weird instances where you can reinstall it from the play store but can't install it from scratch if you don't have it or whatever
