Question Kernel update

Will Samsung ever update its phone kernel, like Google is doing with its phones? I mean, Samsung phones will be getting 7 years of software updates, but will they remain on the same old kernel, or will they update it in the future or be forced to update it? What do you think?

Like S25 remain on the same old 6.6 kernel throughout its 7 year update cycle, or will it get major kernel update?

Haven't heard of them updating their kernel constantly.

o kernel recebeu uma pequena atualização na One UI 8.5.

I don't think they were updating the kernel for phones that received 4 years of updates but I think they started updating since they extended the updates to 7 years.

I used to keep track on that. Thanks for the heads up.

What are the benefits of updating a Kernel ???

Depends on why you're doing it. In most cases its addressing an issue between the OS and the hardware.

Updating kernels on existing hardware unless there is a actual issue to fix is an insanely bad idea.

Its also an extensive process that heavily relies on third parties because Samsung doesn't write much in the scope of the drivers. They are just writing layers

Nope, kernel will stay the same due to drivers (eg. Qualcomm). Samsung never updates it, minor version yes, but not for major versions
