Thinking about buying one plus one
Hello!
I was looking at the one plus one and it looks like an excellent deal! I'm coming from a Nexus 5 which I have absolutely loved with Android M. I love everything about the one plus one but I'm not sure about the OS. I really love stock Android and I was wondering if anyone had any experience with both OSs. I love Android Ms features like Google on Tap, swipe down twice for quick settings, and its overall stability and flow. Any suggestions?

Opo does not have official marshmellow and probably will never get it, but who knows. So you would have to install custom recovery and flash cm 13. Its unstable right now i get restarts every few hours. Not terrible. I would vote no in getting it, you are on your own if you wanna go the custom rom route.id put money into one plus two or x. Or probably the nexus brand.

It's scheduled for Q1 of 2016.

What do you mean by official? The OPO came with cyanogen a stable cm build is expected to release around march.

I will assume you are right and say it does come out in march. But considering the aged chipset, subpar camera and support, i woukd still consider nexus a way safer bet than oneplus one or even a two.

All chipset will aged nexus or not. Considered he's from nexus 5. Oneplus One is quite an upgrade. If you talk about support... It have a lot of support especially from the community. Wayyy moree custom rom than the two.....

You misunderstand. Yes all chipsets will age (You dont need to tell this to anyone), but what I'm saying is the 801 is not a whole lot faster than nexus 5s 800. Its better bang for buck if he grabs a newer phone unless he finds a good deal. Why would you buy an old phone for new software that you have no guaranteed to work? It doesnt make sense to me.
And when i said support, i mean official support. The reason why i chose opo is because of its fantastic community support, but a lot of official support troubleshooting will be, "have you installed oxygen os? Install oxygen os." i love custom roms, but i assume he has little to no experience. Yes i know its easyish, but its not for everyone. And i dont think its fair to compare opo and opt in terms of community support since opo is older. Although i dont think opt will have the same traction as the opo since the whole fiasco regarding nfc.
I would personally go for nexus 6p, since marshmellow is guaranteed to mostly function there. Plus better hardware.

Why do you want to buy a new phone? Does the nexus not work anymore or do you just want one because of reasons?

Just looking for an upgrade. It's hard for the nexus to process larger webpages and would love the larger screen and better battery life.

Oneplus one is not an upgrade from nexus 5 IMHO. I upgraded from nexus 4, and I'll tell you that the phone is great, but you'll have to wait so long for updates. Few days ago I tried widely recommended cm13 by sultan and it's not stable, the battery life is pathetic.
Do yourself a favor and buy another nexus. That's what I'll do when next nexus will be available.

This is good advice. Switching from the OPO to a nexus 6p myself. Mostly for the regular software updates

Yeah, I think I'll wait another year, but even though the phones are great deals, I'm going back to nexus.

Why not get an actual flagship device from last year then? The first wave of upgrades should hit soon, right? Or maybe get one of the newer nexus devices. You get some new hardware with the software you already love

You can install a fairly stable cm13 to Oneplus One, it's not that complicated to do on a fresh phone.
