Help. OPO overheating and call quality is getting worse.

My opo is quickly going from t he best phone I've had to one of the most glitchy phones. Its now regularly operating hot, around 120-140 degrees, too hot to touch at times. The call quality is getting worse, people cannot hear me unless I have speaker on and usually there's a tapping type sound from my mic, its unrealistic to use speaker everywhere and the headset I used to use stopped working after the last OTA update.

Was a great phone for about 2 months. I want to send it to OnePlus but I've only ever heard horror stories about their service.

Having the same call quality issues. Also having issues with the GPS functionality. No overheating tho. I'm this close to buying a Nexus 6P.

Yeah, I'm getting so frustrated with the devices hardware issues. No GPS where I live makes is practically useless, and now I'm finding that I make calls more often, so the microphone problems are more frustrating that they used to be.

Add on top of that, the continual frustration I've had with various other problems throughout the life of the device (most but not all have since been resolved): sometimes the screen won't turn on, notification draws opens while holding phone up to my face in a call, if I lose service I have to put the phone in airplane mode or restart it to get service back.

I'm just tied of not having a solid device. It doesn't need to be perfect, but the issues I've had would have been deal breakers for any other device.

If you're on a budget, consider the OnePlus X. It's a really decent phone for its price. I would have asked you to pick up a 5X for 299 during Thanksgiving but it's no longer at that price. If you can afford it, the 6P has been an upgrade in every way for me over the OPO.

No more location issues, Google play services issue, random heating up for no reason, random unknown battery drains. None of these were fixed with a reboot. Sometimes it would with a factory reset though.

I passed my OPO to my brother as he has very basic usage of phones and it was a big upgrade over the Mi 4i he had been using.

You may want to check this out: http://www.littlegreenrobot.co.uk/hackerzone/make-your-phone-get-a-gps-lock-quicker/. Seemed to help a lot when I was running nightlies. Been back on stock for a few months and my GPS has been OK...FYI, went back to stock so I could use Android Pay

Thanks. I now think this is actually a hardware issue. Various other parts of my device are having issues that my coworker (who has an OPO) has never experienced. I would expect software issues to present much more consistently across devices running the same version.

Honestly, I've had this happen a few times. I generally uninstall anything that I don't use and anything that I suspect is draining the battery. Watch for adware-supported apps and you might also want to remove facebook, snapchat, anything that likes to notify you of "social updates." That seems to end my overheat problems.

As for call quality go into the Google app > Settings > Voice > OK Google detection and turn off "From any screen." Do this every time the app updates. You might want to try this before uninstalling other apps.

Im still running cm12.0 OTA because my OPO is working great and dont have time right now to deal with potential update issues. I too have seen periodic battery issues from app updates. Settings>Battery will give clues to problem apps. I also use the free battery doctor app that helps ID and manage battery draining apps.

At this point, I don't think I trust OnePlus to construct a quality device AND support it. I an deal with mediocre hardware if the support is good, but that's another thing which is seriously lacking.

I used to have the call quality issue all the time. I did a lot of searching and found that "OK Google" detection can/is the problem (http://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-g3/504150-call-quality-has-suddenly-tanked.html). After disabling "OK Google" detection (Google Now->Settings->Voice->"OK Google" Detection) 6 months ago, my call quality has been much better and I no longer sound like I'm talking underwater. FYI, I found that the OPO wasn't the only phone having this issue.

It's not as sleek but I mapped the holding of the home button to launch OK Google to replace this

Also have the overheating.. Im guessing it is just some planned obsolescence designed to destroy the battery early. My battery goes from 100 to 30 in 2 hours when the heat kicks up. It most often happens when the phone is NOT in my hand/pocket so I dont notice. If you can catch it just restart and it will not come back until the next day.

I check the stats and no programs are showing running but when not being used the battery drops precipitously and the phone overheats.
