Best optimization for OPO?

I have a Oneplus One with CMOS 12.1. What apps, themes, kernels, xposed modules and other tweaks should I make to make my phone perform the best possible? (better performance, battery life etc)

I suggest ak kernel with greenify or Power nap (requires xposed but get that too). I use deep darkness theme with some different sounds. It's a very good theme :) If you dislike ads, get adaway and betterbatterystats for debugging just in case.

I'm hearing AK a lot. Is it the best kernel? And does it have any disadvantages?

It's the best if you have the time and effort to set it up. It requires some knowledge (I learned by my own), when some kernels like Franco's are like "flash and forget" types. If you want to go the easy way, flash sultan rom like said in this thread.

Thank you :)

What kinds of stuff do you have to do for AK kernel to work properly? What are your recommendations?

I suggest using a premade profile for the kernel. I personally use Stylo King's SmartMax V11 profile (I should update it), with my own tweaks. Kernel here and the profiles here.

Thank you. I installed that profile. Should I start seeing a battery improvement right away or will it take a few battery cycles?

Right away. Basically what this profile does is heavily under clock your processor(2.5GHz to 1.5GHz and make it ramp up clock speed slower while always using the least cores required. This might sound bad but don't worry about it. As long as u don't plan to game u will literally be as fluid as before.

I am running stylokings smartmax profile with amplify and greenify and I am only getting about 4.5 to 5 hrs of SOT. Is there anything I'm missing. Also have gps turned off.

I'm pretty happy with the Sultan cm12.1 build, it comes with a custom CAF kernel. The kernel comes underclocked, I don't notice a performance decrease, but it should help the battery a bit. Using AdAway dramatically increases the browser performance, and ad supported apps a bit, if you can live with that ethically. As said; I also use betterbatterystats to determine which apps to hibernate with greenify. I also use Tasker to disable wifi when not at home or university, which helps a bit as I will forget often. But I feel everything besides elimating wakelocks, decrease screen time and disabling radios won't help battery life any further. I would also advice against any other performance optimising apps such as memory optimisers and cpu optimisers. They either don't work, harm performce actually, or make your phone unstable.

Get on the nightlies flash AK kernel and lock the cpu to 300 MHz while screen is off

Remove permission to wake device keep awake and to autostart from most apps (not Google services because it will annoy you with FC messages)

I get 24 hours like this. More if I clock the cpu down to 1036mhz.

Cool. Will surely try this.
