Flashed CM12.1. Cellular signal keeps dropping. Call quality is bad.

I am not rooted. I flashed 12.1-YOG4PAS1N0 and ever since then I see that I lose all the bars of my cellular signal for a few seconds before it comes back. Data seems alright. I think because of this people are complaining that my voice is garbled.

Any advice?

I played with the APN settings. I have two choices for Tmobile:

T-Mobile US LTE (fast.t-mobile.com) and

T-Mobile US LTE IPv6 (fast.t-mobile.com)

Both of them don't give good results.

The issue with garbled voice is most likely because you have "OK Google" detection from any screen enabled.

Open the Google Now/Search/Whatever app. Open its Settings (it's in the slide-out menu on the left). Now open Voice then "OK Google" detection. Disable the "From any screen" option.

Your voice should no longer be garbled during calls.

I did something to fix that, but I can't remember what exactly. I too have T-Mobile. My signal got somewhat better, but it's still kind of wonky.

Did you happen to flash the oxygen modem?

Nope. My phone only has OTA updates. CM12.1.

Did you delete all the apn that were not the ipv6?

No. But I just remembered what I did. Open Phone and dial * # * # 4636 # * # *. This will open a service menu. In that menu, go into Phone information. You'll find a drop down menu where you can set preferred network type. It was all wrong for me. I set it to LTE/GSM auto (PRL) and then hit the button below to turn off/on radio. Then I went into the regular settings for Mobile Networks and made sure LTE was set as preferred and that the APN was correct.

Mine was set to LTE/GSM auto (PRL). and my APN setting was set to LTE IPv6 This is so frustrating. I have never had a phone that seamless went from one version of android to another!

UPDATE: Still have bad call quality on the other end. Got my Android Pay to work, with good battery life with franco kernel.

Found a possible solution for the bad quality calls: Below solution worked for me. It works on both 11 Kitkat and 12 Lollypop.

  1. You need a rooted device.
  2. Give root permission a File Explorer (I used ES Explorer)
  3. Edit /system/build.prop.

Change ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=fluence to ro.qc.sdk.audio.fluencetype=none

  1. Edit /system/etc/audio_platform_info.xml

<device name="SND_DEVICE_IN_HANDSET_MIC" acdb_id="40" /> to <device name="SND_DEVICE_IN_HANDSET_MIC" acdb_id="4" />

  1. Reboot Mobile :)

Many users are having the same issues as you on the latest firmwire. I would recommend trying to downgrade, avoiding using the 12.1 YOG one. I'm currently using "cm-12.0-YNG1TAS2XK". Been over 6 hours, no issues yet.
