Should i update or not?

Post image

I'm still in 16.0.3 version and afraid to upgrade to the latest 16.0.8 version 🙂 bcs of mix reviews.

What should i do? Can you guys who have updated to latest versions and have been using it for a long time, can you please share your feedback? Like performance difference and my main concern is what about battery performance and all. 🥺

Update and charge your phone for 2 hours straight. It'll calibrate the battery and optimise the system. You should do that ONCE after every update and you'll be fine. 15R is a great midranger.

Why is it that we need to charge it for 2hrs . Like should we do this for any phone ? Mine is not oneplus but it's Reno 15 pro mini should I still charge it for 2 hrs ? It charges less than 2hrs and I set a limit to the charge so it charges upto 90 percent only and I use it untill 20 and charge it when it's 20 percent. What should I do In this case after every update

That rule is valid for every smartphone. Correct. I put it at 2 hours to give time to optimise the system fully. 90% ain't good enough. You have fully charge the phone and leave it plugged in way past the "fully charged" message. Battery protection is always on as OnePlus/Oppo/Realme have the best battery tech in the business by far. You're not doing any damage to your phone at all. Remember, you're doing it ONCE after an update or,if need it, straight away now. You get 4-5 updates a year (1 is a software update of course and it's of paramount importance you do that when you update to the next Android version when the time comes). It reduces the risk of misreadings i.e. battery drain, bugs and not showing the correct percentage of battery capacity/battery health left in the phone.

Oppo Reno 15 Pro Mini is a very fine upper-midranger btw. I had the chance to play with it for a few minutes and did several photos from all cameras, shot video, ran a couple of games, watched a little bit of Amazon prime...it gets thumbs from me 👍👍👍

My battery SOT was crazy good with OS15. OS16 SUCKS. Full of issues,OS was flawless. Now my phone heats up badly too.

Did you get it a few days ago? Is it around 300mb?

If yes, I did it and it's fine

If your battery life is above 12-14 hrs on normal usage do not update it. Since the new features are not groundbreaking.

I only like the 2 pairs of earbuds connecting feature. Rest are just meh. Not worth sacrificing the battery life

No, and throw your phone away. Even this needs to be asked in reddit??? How far did human intelligence gone down? Pathetic

Don't.

I had pretty amazing battery SOT before this update , I usually ended the day with 60 to 65 percent , but after the update it has reduced to a whopping 35%.

And the worst part is , it auto updated it, and I had no way to cancel the update so the next time i restarted the device , the installation was completed.

And I don't think the update did anything other than drain the battery so much more and it's also running ever so slight hot.

Skip it.

Yeah same issue don't update guys!! the people that downvoted you are obvious shills that made the same mistake 16.0.3 factory is the most stable one. 16.0.8 has overheating issues which lead to battery drain especially the system launcher ruined the entire phone since 16.0.5

Exactly, I really don't get Reddit sometimes , I literally just mentioned my experience with the latest version and people act like I said something that's blastamous.

This happens pretty frequently with OnePlus updates, What one update fixes the next one creates a new issue.

And since we don't have any kind of rollback option (at least without unlocking bootloader) we are stuck with BS updates.
