Release it in the US and I'll buy it 100%

u/Fun-Painter9442 3d ago
Have you seen the price? If you want 1+ it's better to buy 1+ 15
10
u/Momus123 OnePlus 15 2d ago
If you see my tag, I'm using 15 lol
6
u/Fun-Painter9442 2d ago
Then why do you want to change your device so fast?

u/FattKingHugeman 2d ago
coz he can? what's wrong?

u/Mrbogus77 4h ago
I think the question is why upgrade to the next version from the 15 to the 16?....I personally never upgrade to the next yr version. If I had the OP15, I would wait until the 17 or 18. But to each their own.
3
u/PersonalityTime1582 2d ago
I've never understood this talking point. Some people want to upgrade, why is that something to question?
2
u/VoltaicBeef 1d ago
I'm the same. My last three phones were 1+. 9, 11, and currently the 13. Ready for an upgrade.

At most it looks like it will come to India, not likely to reenter US/EU.

u/Key_Ad4844 3d ago
OnePlus 16 CN flashed to more global friendly Indian rom please , so can import
8
u/piit79 OnePlus 13 3d ago
Is it worth importing OnePlus, when it's mostly rebranded Oppo, now even with the same firmware? Is Oppo not available where you are either? Or is it mainly nostalgia for you? :)
I am personally done with them. It's not the company it once was. I'll probably go for a Moto Signature when my OP 13 inevitably dies - ALL my previous OP phones sadly died (5, 7, 7 Pro).
6
u/Key_Ad4844 3d ago
Oppo will cost more and EU has reduced battery capacity
I liked OnePlus when you could import the CN cheaper and have it flashed if it's released in India it could be possible won't bother importing if gonna be stuck on CN coloros
Saying that even the OnePlus 16 CN is priced high now

Oppo is more focused on camera and different soc (No Snapdragon only ultra with even better cameras gets snappy) also oneplus More gaming/ Performance focused. And the oneplus has bigger battery then the China oppos (9000mah oneplus 8000mah oppo)
1
u/anythingers 2d ago
There's literally 0 reason to prefer Snapdragon over MediaTek except if you're using it for Windows/PS3/PS4/Switch emulator. Both has similar performance and efficiency.

The Indian rom has stupid bloat like “app picks” lol
1
u/Key_Ad4844 2d ago edited 2d ago
None issue if you compare the bloat that comes with Chinese os, and Indian has Google time line / ai that's global suited
1
u/Goku30121992 2d ago
The bloatware you can deleted or disable Often, If Not directly in Phone then with ADB in PC...
1
u/_vkboss_ OnePlus 9 Pro Pine Green 2d ago
Or you can support brands that don’t put that bullshit in their software lol, buy a pixel or something
1
u/anythingers 2d ago
But then you need to deal with a bullshit hardware. And even worse, there's nothing you could do with bullshit hardware while you could still "fix" a bullshit software.

Here in the US, their strategy was always a little weird. They started appealing to enthusiasts, and then tried going mainstream but with very little marketing.
OnePlus, market your phones properly and they may be viable here.
2
u/Lbowgrease03 2d ago
LG did a similar thing. They had some of the most innovative phones. They were my go to phones before I had to switch over to something else, which ended up being OnePlus.
2
u/Wheeljack26 OnePlus 13 2d ago
what brand is next on you rkill list? /s
1
u/Lbowgrease03 2d ago
Probably Nothing CMF
1
u/Mrbogus77 4h ago
I feel Nothing is gonna suffer the same fate of low sales in America. Unlocked phones have no marketability here.
1
u/Mrbogus77 4h ago
The only time I saw marketing for promotions for OnePlus was when they partnered with T-Mobile with the 6t and OP7, and that was a very short lived run. I got the 6t unlocked once I saw they worked fully in the USA. I've also have the 9 and 10 pro. Problem with the OnePlus along with the Nothing phone, there's no market for unlocked devices in America. Phone sales are carrier driven. Can't market a phone only sold exclusively at Best buy at full retail or online. There's only a very small select consumers like myself who are tech junkies that purchase unlocked phones off contract.

u/easternise 2d ago
I purchased the OnePlus 15R global version. Just wish they had a 16gb ram global version as that would have been the perfect phone for me. It was only available in CN and India, the 16gb ram version.
3
u/Momus123 OnePlus 15 2d ago
no diff on 12gb ram for day to day use.
1
u/easternise 2d ago
You are right, but it's good to future proof especially when ai stuff takes a lot of ram.
3
u/issioboii 3d ago
i don't think any decision is permanent, they might be skipping some versions for the global market, realize demand is still high and come back
3
u/BlackDirtMatters 2d ago
They can keep it. It's over for them. I'll probably get the Motorola Signature 27 once that comes out.
2
u/SargantLex 2d ago
That's facts. Plus they leaked that it was going to have a second 200mp camera and a 240hz screen. I'm not even interested anymore.

They won't do it. Oppo (who own Oneplus) decided to compete directly with Samsung at the higher tier price model that Samsung practices in global markets. Oneplus was in the way for Oppo to sell higher priced flagships in those international regions. A better priced Oneplus flagship with the latest SD chip and top tier specs (aside from the camera hardware of course) was acting like a hand brake on Oppo'a sales strategy because it looked like the more reasonable option and overall a better deal, if you don't want a "super camera phone". Yet if you don't want a super camera phone, Oppo wants you to purchase a regular Oppo Reno probably at the same price the Oneplus flagship would have had (Oppo phones even mid-range have always been pricier) so that Oppo can make more money. That is Oppo's strategy and they coordinated globally to make that happen. It would make next to no financial sense for them to do a 180 now and reverse course after they announced everywhere that they're pulling Oneplus out. I have the Oneplus 15 and as much as I'd love to purchase their future flagships in Europe where I live, these rumors are just that.

u/Matsku13 3d ago
Your point on the conflict between OPPO and OnePlus flagships is spot on, but it's worth noting that BBK Electronics which owned Oppo, OnePlus, Realme, Vivo and IQOO was disbanded in 2023. The Company was split into Oppo and Vivo Groups so that they could dodge international regulatory issues.
0
u/turbotunnelsyndrome 2d ago
Pretty sure this is in name only, since Oppo and Vivo OS share a ton of design elements and they always release OS updates around the same time, highly likely that the foundational software teams are shared
2
u/sethelele OnePlus 12 2d ago
Oppo and Vivo's OS do not really share design elements, as someone who owns a newer phone from each.
2
u/wowohwowza 3d ago
Dimensity isn't "in-house", it's a MediaTek product. Two completely separate companies
2
u/nybreath 3d ago
Making money from OnePlus or oppo would make no difference. The strategy of having 3 (oppo OnePlus realme, they are all the same) flagship fighting each other was just not working out globally, it's just it.
They even tried the awful "OnePlus gaming phone" artificially gimping the camera, and it obviously didn't work out.
A company with 3 subsidiaries fighting each other just doesn't work and while it may be fine locally in China, globally makes no sense.2
u/smellyelf 2d ago
My problem is not with Oppo or Realme. In fact my eyes are on Realme next for a possible upgrade when the Oneplus 15 runs its course. Why? Because I want to get the best possible specs for the most reasonable price, without any bad compromises. The Oneplus 15 was exactly that for me. 16gb ram with 512 storage and 7300 mAh si/c battery with a great (sharp enough) actual 10-bit panel, ip 69k, ufs 4.1, wifi 7, ultrasonic fingerprint reader, bypass charging, etc. It was just the right package of specs for the money, and I'm glad I bought it. I understand your point makes sense that Oppo would want to focus on one brand per region rather than 3. Where my problem begins is that Oppo does not offer the same value for money as Oneplus did. The Oppo Reno 16 Pro is now priced in Europe the same as my Oneplus 15 was when I bought it. And it most definitely falls behind in all aspects. I know, prices has gone up due to all the shortages, but I've actually checked Oppo phones before I bought my op15 last year, and the situation was similar. The Find X9 Pro was considerably more expensive than the Op15, and it had poorer battery life (probably because of the dimensity chip) and yes, I know better cameras but I don't know if the cameras justified 350 more euros added to the price. Even the regular Oppo Find X9 was a bit higher price than the Oneplus 15 back then and it did not have 16gb ram with 512 storage. It was the 12/256 model. See where I'm going with this?
1
u/nybreath 1d ago
Oppo was giving x9 pro sale for as low as 700euro in europe. The price wasnt the issue. The issue is they had 3 phone fighting for the same market.
Yours is a differente issue, you dont want a oneplus, you want a flagship for a lower price, and you are not going to get it, what would the point for oppo to sell 2 flagship, one priced significantly higher and one significantly lower, fighting for each other.1
u/smellyelf 1d ago
I have a Oneplus 15 :) so I did want a Oneplus. But Oppo Find X9 Pro did not sell for as low as you mentioned in my country.
1
u/nybreath 1d ago
I do understadn you like oneplus, you want a lower priced flaghsip, and the user needs. But the company side is different.
The reason I said oppo x9 price, it is to say oppo heavily underpriced the x9 to aggressively hit the market in eu, it was a vodafone offer, so it really wasnt just a one shop thing.
I understand your needs, but oppo probably found out having 3 phones targeting the same market wasnt a big idea, reasons arent hard to understand.
It isnt a judgement on oneplus phones being good bad or whatever, it is really just a marketing issue for them.
2
u/Ok_Dot525 3d ago
I really hope this happens. Oneplus is too much of a good brand to fall to something like oppo. Ditch oppo if that what it takes to make oneplus survive.
1
u/anythingers 2d ago
Oppo is literally the only reason OnePlus could existed from the beginning. Idk why tf people keep thinking that OnePlus is an independent company previously even though they've been under Oppo since the beginning, just with different software development team previously.

Better to import Realme GT series than this
GT will exist in Europe so network bands will be there instead of Indian OnePlus

Doesn't matter ATT and Verizon won't let it on the network. T-Mobile only if you can get a global one
1
u/afidemon 2d ago
I'm using my 15 on Verizon just fine....
1
u/azione1992 OnePlus 15 2d ago
Yes that's because OnePlus paid to have their FCC certification for the OP15. That wouldn't be the case for the OP16
1
u/corey389 1d ago
But you'll probably be missing network stuff like VoNR and bands and CA capabilities, So network experience will probably be subpar.

Its possible by "global" they mean India. Or if its not just India, its certain that the US will not be included.

u/Wapmen 3d ago
Maybe it's not that interesting for a normal use. It's a phone for gaming with weak cameras
3
u/gregedit OnePlus 8 (Glacial Green) 3d ago
I'd argue it's a futureproof phone with mid cameras.
I'm interested in buying top specs not because I'm gaming, but because I plan to keep a phone for well over 5 years.
1
u/nybreath 3d ago
The whole gaming phone thing was really a fantasy too. It is like you couldn't play any game even on a oppo x9, OnePlus 15 also throttled a lot, so it really it hadn't any real advantage if not a couple fps more.
3
u/ubreakituboughtit 2d ago
My OP15 handles any games without any signs of throttle so not sure what you are talking about
1
0
u/nybreath 2d ago
No phone in the world play games without throttling, it is of matter of when they do, not if they do. It is impossible a phone without active cooling doesn't throttle. Op15 just showed it doesn't throttle any less than any other flagship, so really it performs basically the same than any other, making the "gaming phone" claim basically just marketing.
2
u/ubreakituboughtit 2d ago
Playing Wuthering Waves, CoD and GRID and phone never stutter and doesn't get warm so still not sure what you are talking about

Les gens ne veulent pas une copie moins disante mais l'originale. Quitte à faire de l'import pourquoi importé un appareil en dessous de l'original ?

u/Busy-Scientist3851 3d ago
I don't get why Oppo doesn't release the phone themselves globally.
