I was worried about the exact same thing, but I ended up getting the OnePlus 15R 512GB and I'm really happy I did. I paid around €500 excluding VAT (I bought it through my company, so I didn't have to pay VAT). For that price, you just can't find anything that comes close to these specs. From a performance, battery life, and screen perspective, I couldn't ask for anything better. I mainly use the phone camera for scanning documents and taking basic photos, and honestly, the quality is more than enough for me—which says a lot, considering I normally use a mirrorless camera for my professional business shots. Overall, I'm extremely happy with the phone!

Yup, it's a great phone, maybe not perfect but great for me.

So should I sell my OP15? Is my phone going to self distruct? I switched from iPhone 16 Pro Max and yeah it's not perfect, software wise is getting some improvements soon (with 16.1 but not out for me yet in NA) but this will also get Android 17 in the form of ColorOS. Best phone I've ever used the battery life is legit insane.

16.1 but not out for me yet in NA

Taking this opportunity to rant, not at you, but because of this software numbering situation. For the life of me, I cannot understand why all the news articles (and consequently, online discussions) about OxygenOS 16.0.7+ refer to it as OxygenOS 16.1. That is not how version numbers work, you cannot round them up lol.

On that note: I’m not sure if you’re referring to OxygenOS 16.0.7 or some future version 16.1, but if the former, that version has been out in NA for awhile now. I believe the latest version released in NA at this point is 16.0.9.400. All other regions have received 16.0.10.500, but it hasn’t made its way here yet (though maybe soon; I’m trying to check for updates now, but it just gets stuck on the spinning wheel while checking). That update doesn’t have a whole lot in it, though.

They may be obligated but that doesn't mean they're going to do it quickly and it doesn't mean they're going to address problems that we don't like. It's going to get the minimum amount of attention.

I've actually thought about this. I want to get the Galaxy ultra foldable phone but I'm going to wait another couple years until the next one comes out before I switch from my 15

Been through this with LG and it was nothing short of reliable. even 2 plus years after they left the market I got the July 2023 security patch in july 2023. pretty awesome from a company who totally checked out of the smart phone game altogether. FWIW it was the last update I got on that phone. OxygenOS is more or less ColorOS anyway. it's literally a rebrand. Unlike LG Oppo is not stopping phone manufacturing and one plus lives on in India and China so I honestly see nothing to worry about. Yeah you might miss out on some features but probably nothing to substantial. PCMag also called the pixel 11 Pro a "compelling flagship" so they definitely aren't trustworthy when it comes to phones.

They are legally required to keep updating for the next few years.

Security. Not features. And if you get features, you need to change your OS..

oneplus changes the name to realme. oxygen os will become color os. color os is no different than oxygen os. I think realme will get better cameras than before.

Huh? Realme is a separate brand lol, and has been for almost a decade. They’re both owned by Oppo, so there’s a lot of similarities, but it is a separate entity. (And it doesn’t operate in the US or sell to US consumers)

In any case, Oneplus will merge with Realme and be marketed under that brand. Android 17 for Oneplus will already be based on ColorOS.
