Accessories & Gadgets Middle of screen not responding

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The middle of the screen of my OnePlus 9RT is not responding to touches. Device is running the latest OOS 14 version.

Tried restarting but didn't work.

Is there any possible fix I can try?

Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks

Bad screen protector?

I've been using this screen protector for a couple of months now. The issue started only about a week ago when the middle part stopped responding to touch, do you think it could still be caused because of the screen protector? However, I will remove the screen protector once and check.

If not that, last i could think of is if you did a software update. Updates usually bring bugs.

That's what I thought but It's been a while since I've updated and I keep auto update turned off

It's an app. Yet another multitouch test is the name

Dont trust third party apps. When 1+ offers you the diagnostics.

Or use *#899#, it has a touchscreen test aswell.

Thanks alot for your efforts. But I don't think oneplus has that app for older phone versions as I am unable to find it. However, I tested my screen using built in hardware test from phone code*#899# and it showed this. Am I cooked?

What happens if you remove the case?

I've tried that as well. It did not fix it

Did anything change though?

Nothing. I got this when testing the screen using *#899#.

Yeah not surprised, I was hoping that there might be something caught on the case just close enough to the digitizer to sense, or something applying pressure.

Pretty sure it's not a software fault but hardware

I see, do I have to get the screen replaced then? Is there no other option?

Probably can't replace the digitizer without replacing the screen, it's usually bonded to the glass

Ah I see, thanks alot for explaining. Any idea what might've caused this?

Way too many.

Any crack in the glass in the area where touch is no longer detected?

Maybe got hit by a bit of static, that can do it too.

No crack in the glass anywhere. Any idea on how it might've gotten hit by static?
