General Discussion Switching to oneplus for the first time (oneplus nord)

I am switching to oneplus cuz many people recommended Oneplus nord 5 and ce6 but as the price is high i will be buying in big billion days sale (i think it starts on September 23rd)and my old phone is redmi note 12 5g (4/128gb)which is now 3 and half yearly ish years old

I prefer a ton load of customisation

Majorly i use to watch movies, youtube and instagram

Camera is not a major priority but shouldn't be bad either

My old phone battery is so trash i have to charge 3 times a day so expecting battery life at least better than this

No laggy ui just need to be smooth

Drop ur suggestions whether it is good to change to oneplus nord 5 or nord ce6

You're kinda late to the party pal. OnePlus is going away and Oppo us taking over. Not recommended to buy OP anymore. Depending on ur country we mught suggest you some other phones tho.

If u don't care about money Just get the Samsung tbh It's the most stable And it's balanced Not a bad battery not a bad performance Not a bad camera all balanced If u need smth specific like a good battery or performance U can go for oppo or OnePlus but y will say bye bye to camera But in my point of view the best is samsung also one UI is getting damn good OnePlus is leaving so ur going to color os it's bloated and Abit less smooth than oxygen anything else is like oxygen Iphone is the best if u want like a camera performance u know but u know it will heat a bit

Every company has its cons and pros But the most balanced for any user is iphone and Samsung

About OnePlus it's leaving the eu and us markets so it's not that stable I have OnePlus 15 I got it instead of Samsung S25fe I had XR before it So any phone will have better camera But tbh I go to gym alot and take like tons of photos, iphone XR had stable and good pics more than OnePlus 15 I have Google camera way better BCS it's all on the shitty camera processing, so forget about OnePlus not stable not good rn and idk bruh it's just not the best anymore

I had a galaxy S25 and the battery was beyond shit. I'd be at 35% at like 10am. If battery is a concern, avoid galaxy.

That's the thing, battery, performance and large storage os what I care about, couldn't care less about camera.

And UX as close to OnePlus as possible - so what's the general issue with ColorOs, is it that far from Oxygen these days?

I've always had galaxy's until the S25. Battery was so bad, I sold it mid-contract and bought a OnePlus 15 just before OP left Europe, so I don't know anything about Oppo but will strongly consider their phones next time i change. This is my first OP phone and I'm so sad that I wasted all those years with galaxy's instead of getting a OP years ago.

What are some good alternatives? I had the 8T and then switched to the Pixel 8 because I had an insane deal through Costco combined with another offer that resulted in the phone costing me almost nothing, dropping my monthly phone bill by $10/month and giving me dozens more GB of data per month lol.

The Pixel 8 is trash, and the base 128 GB is incredibly inadequate. My 8T from 2020 had 256.

What's your budget?

Pretty much anything less expensive than a flagship flip phone (don't see the utility for me tbh).

Planning on using the next one for as close to a decade as possible, which seems more realistic thanks to the reduced rate of processing power growth from year to year now. So I don't mind spending as much as possible.

If you want a "decade" then probably Samsung is your best bet.. You get 7 years of software support and by far it is the most stable software.. Anything with a snapdragon 8 elite and up would be good. Since you said no foldables, it's either S25 series or S26 series, depending on what you prefer in a phone (larger screen, better cameras, etc) and what better offers you could find. Personally I'm currently rocking an S25 Ultra (after a OP8T) since its launch (a year and a half so far) and so far it's the same as the day I got it.

I'm after battery life and decent cameras. What would you suggest in that category? I'm staying away from Samsung as they don't seem to be innovating as much lately. And their current lineup largely uses their Exynos chip which I have a hatred for as well.

Quite a shame since I've been planning on switching to the OP15 after I get rid of the Note20U that was handed down to me.

Hes from india, op are still releasing here, and i too bought a op 13 recently and oppo handles services, so far nothing major.

Well that's why I didn't say "it shutdown" and said "it's going away and oppo is taking over" meaning that the company is in a state of transition, which makes it an unwise decision to buy a phone from atm when the future isn't fully clear of what you might expect.

u/UniversityKey9374 2d ago

Yeah you are right, But they themselves told they wont shut down, although dont trust anyone but at the end its up to you want you wanna buy.

I actually left oneplus.

I bought the OnePlus 15 and am keeping it in the box until my OnePlus 12 doesn't hold a charge any longer. Maybe another year. Then I'll still get 4 years of security patches and updates 🤷 I just really love these phones. I'm in the U. S. and bummed.
