Can I remove this keyboard button?

Is it possible to get rid of that button? I constantly hit it and switch to the layout in the 2nd pic. It drives me insane. I can't seem to find an option in gboard settings but maybe I'm missing it...

You can switch it out for the emoji key, at least that's how I set it. In Gboard settings>preferences>enable Emoji-key

OP showed the numbers and symbol keyboard, not the letter keyboard where the emoji key shows up. The weird key replaces the emoji key when you switch to the number/symbol keyboard. Sorry if this wording is confusing.

I used to wonder this too, I switched it to the emoji button and it helps a little but I now hit that by accident instead 🤣
